Gétatchèw Mèkurya is the 'inventor' of a distinctive musical style. Amongst Ethiopia's vocal genres, there exists a form of singing that is purely warlik epic and declamatory, harsh and hoarse-voiced « shellela ». Gétatchèw had the idea of transposing the genre to his saxophone, creating a musical form that is daring, improvisational, angry and impetuous, a sort of free jazz before it's time.

Zu - Bromio [VINYL LP] Colored Vinyl, Ltd Ed date 07/19/2024

Double vinyl LP pressing housed in gatefold jacket. Following up their remote LEVITATION sessions, the world-touring Brazilian band Boogarins spent the pandemic picking up the pieces, and shuffling the deck. Unreleased gems like InchFar and SafeInch had the lyrics reformulated by John Schmersal (Brainiac, Enon, Vertical Scratchers, and Caribou) and is wonderfully sung by Erika Wennerstrom (Heartless Bastards). Available for the first time as a complete set, this double-album features candid moments of the creative process of the band; an intimate look into how Boogarins shaped their most recent two studio releases and what was lost (but now found) along the way. Inch... a highlight of their career so far and an exciting springboard for the future of the bandInch - REMEZCLA
