Assuming you’ve heard that it takes beautiful photos, has robust film simulation functionality, has decent battery life for a “casual” travel photographer (100ish a day, rarely had camera die), has slightly annoying menu UI. I took this as my one camera setup for a 6-month round the world trip. It held up to a lot of travel, rainy walks and more than one fall. Were there times I wished I had a larger lens? Sure, but the fixed lens forced me to create images that were delightful for unexpected reasons. I can’t recommend this system highly enough

I recently purchased this camera at retail price and it has been a very interesting camera. Honestly, I’ve been debating whether to keep it or not almost every day. When you look at the specs on paper, it feels overpriced… but the second you actually hold it, use it, and see the results, you’re reminded why everyone loves this camera. The biggest thing for me is the feeling of using it. The excitement I get from shooting with this is nothing like what I get from my Sony A7III and A6400. Those Sonys are amazing workhorse cameras, but they feel clinical and soulless. This camera makes me want to go out and create images. After going back and forth for the past two weeks, I’ve decided I’m keeping it—because keeping that photography excitement alive is worth more than a spec sheet. Now for the technical stuff. I really only have two major complaints: 1) Autofocus speed/effort (coming from Sony): It’s not “bad,” but it feels slow compared to Sony. Sony autofocus feels effortless—you point, it grabs focus, and you move on. With this camera, I have to be more intentional and sometimes work a bit more to get the focus exactly where I want it. For slower shooting (street, portraits, everyday life), it’s totally manageable, but if you’re used to Sony-level AF, you’ll notice the difference immediately. 2) Battery life: The battery life is actually bad. I don’t see myself shooting all day on one battery. I’ve already had to charge it in between uses, and I’m planning to buy extra batteries to keep on me. If you’re considering this camera, I’d honestly treat extra batteries as part of the cost. A smaller thing: the menu system could definitely be improved. It feels like a lot is going on, and it’s not as intuitive as I’d like. I’m sure I’ll get used to it more over time, but it’s not a smooth experience at first. I attached photos of how I set up the camera, plus sample images I’ve taken with it (including a couple of recipes and some Lightroom edits). Overall, if you’re the type of person who cares about the shooting experience and you want a camera that makes you excited to create, this is one of those rare cameras that actually delivers that feeling—even if you have to accept the focus and battery compromises.

Although it was a bit of a splurge I have ZERO regrets! It was tough to find but definitely got lucky. The quality of the photos is top notch and the film simulations give a lot of variety. It takes some getting use to but it’s enjoyable to dig into details of using this camera.
