- A: AnswerI just tried to make a claim on my Samsung electric range for a replacement knob and was told by Geek Squad that it isn’t covered by my protection plan. So that is disappointing.

- A: AnswerWe have Geek Squad protection on all of our appliances in 2 homes and happy to say it starts when the item is purchased. We never use the manufacturer warranty. We don't even register the appliances with the manufacturer. We only go through Geek Squad for any service and repairs. We always choose the 5 year option so we at least get 5 years out of each appliance. We also have Total Tech Support which has been well worth the investment!

- A: AnswerI wish I knew why they don't offer it like that, but I compare extended warranty periods from L*wes and H8me Depot and appliance lifetimes (usually 3 years), and find that 5 years is practical. I didn't see the need for a Total Tech/GS membership, so we purchased the 5 year extended warranties on our appliances instead of the recurring monthly membership.

Geek Squad Service
|I will always get the protection plan from Best Buy on larger priced items. However, their service sucks big time. I get transferred from one person to another. I set a date for service, they don't show up, even though they indicate via email the appointment is set, AND a phone call that they're going to be there between certain hours. Still a no-show. So beware! I finally had my Frigidaire 27-in wall oven door serviced. Photo is included.
