I purchased this Nikon P950 to have a "real camera" to take on a trip to Alaska, that I didn't have to carry around a lot of gear. So far, I have photographed the solar eclipse, the full moon, pet and family portraits, and macros of the bluebonnets. Have to say, the sharpness and detail is excellent for a bridge camera. The lens zoom is absolutely phenomenal. I love that attaching the camera to your phone downloads the photos straight to your phone via the SnapBridge App which then uploads to the cloud. I also purchased a USB-C card reader in case the bluetooth connection is poor. The camera is a bit weighty but so much lighter than my DSLR. Still getting to know all the features and controls available. Overall very pleased with my purchase.

I can get sharp images up to 800 mm on a sunny day. beyond that it starts to get blurred with handheld shooting. using the digital zoom which goes beyond 2000mm is unusable for me. Also having occasional focus hunting on small moving subjects like birds but mostly i get great photos with different birds in our backyard. Other than that this camera is great for casual shooting. image quality is good. That long zoom definitely can get you closer which is the main selling point of this camera.

This was a well-needed upgrade from the Nikon P900 and much more compact than the bulky P1000. Its kind of a combination of both, hence the P950 label. The viewfinder is a nice update. Much easier to see your photos before and after the shot. It also shoots in RAW format, and you have quick access to exposure compensation with a new dial on the left side of the camera. The "moon mode" is a nice option for those moon shots. It also shoots in 4K @ 30fps or 1080 @ 60 video. I wish it was weather and dust proof, as it's a great hiking camera being somewhat light and compact for a 2000mm zoom. The image stabilization is very impressive. A great asset when you're at 2000mm zoom. I'd say @ $799, it's a lot of bang for the buck. I wish it had a larger sensor, and maybe 20MP over 16MP, but from a value standpoint, Nikon did well. Five stars to both BestBuy (Chapel Hill Store) and Nikon.
