XFX - Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070GRE Triple Fan Gaming Graphics Card with 12GB GDDR6 PCI Express 5.0 HDMI 3xDP, AMD RDNA 4 - Black

I had no intentions of getting this card since launch reviews didn't really have a worthwhile audience. For a cheaper price you could get the RX 9060XT (16 GB model, of course), but if you spent $100 more you could get a base 9070 that would be more powerful and have a full 16GB of VRAM. This card made no sense. Well, fast-forward to the RAMpocalypse (thanks, AI) and everything is going up in price. I was intending on getting a 9060XT as a gift, but unfortunately, unless you can find it at a reasonable price, it's not really worth looking at. That's where the 9070 GRE comes in. While it lacks 4GB of VRAM compared with the 9060XT's 16GB, it's still a more powerful card. And since it was only about $50 more, I decided to go ahead and get this instead. I did a little bit of testing with the card to make sure it worked properly, and it definitely packs a bit more punch than the 9060XT that I'm using. I think 1440p is an ideal resolution to use this (you can do 4K, but I would only recommend it for games that are less demanding or about 4 to 5 years old). One thing to keep in mind (at least for this model in particular) is that it's a bit of a beefy card (my Sapphire Pulse 9060XT is smaller than this beast). You should be able to get this into most micro-ATX cases, but if you're going to put this in a mini-ITX case, I would strongly recommend against it. As things stand right now, I suppose this card is worth getting. If/when the AI bubble pops and things start going back to how they were before, you'd probably be better off getting the 9060XT, especially if you're on a strict budget. In a vacuum, this card is pretty good, but compared with the other offerings, you need a good reason (like expensive 9060XTs) to consider getting one.

As of right now the rx 9070 gre was a great deal, with the rtx 5060 ti being so much more expensive. I would totally recommend buying one of these instead, performance is perfect for 1440p gaming, and amd has cone a long way from previous generations and can easily say they are a competetor to nvidia.

Pros: -A great card that can play almost any high demanding game: modded Minecraft, Victoria 3, etc. -Definite upgrade from rx 6600 xt -12GB of VRAM is still a massive upgrade with anyone at 8GB -Aesthetically pleasing Cons: -The standard selling price of $550 is not ideal Verdict: If you can't fork another $100 for the rx 9070, this rx 9070 gre is a great choice—particularly if it sells closer to $500!

I was worried at first switching from Nvidea. Thankfully within the first few games I booted up I had 0 worries. It plays everything I've thrown at it pushing 100-144fps at 2k resolution and ultra to high settings.

Beats out my 6950xt on 3DMark and paired great with my 5800x3d
