A Blade in the Dark [DVD] [1983]

Terror hits the screen in the horrific A Blade in the Dark. Anchor Bay has done a fine job on this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Aside of a few minor troubles (including some edge enhancement and a few blemishes throughout), this is a fine-looking image that sports vivid colors and well-saturated black levels. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital Mono and is aptly flat and lifeless. However, the bulk of this soundtrack is free of any hiss or excessive distortion. No alternate soundtracks or subtitles are included on this disc. The extra features available on the disc are minimal, including a short but fairly interesting featurette titled "Behind the Blade: Interviews With Director Lamberto Bava and Writer Dardano Sacchetti," which runs ten minutes, as well as a theatrical trailer for the film, some talent bios, and a few liner notes by Tim Lucas.
