A Hole in the Head [DVD] [1959]

Most famous for containing the Sinatra tune "High Hopes," A Hole in the Head's not exactly Frank Capra's finest moment. Still, this MGM DVD shows that at least the sentimental movie is slightly better than its maudlin reputation. The disc returns the movie to its widescreen theatrical aspect ratio and sports a clean print. You now can actually see the great cast (including the peerless Thelma Ritter and Edward G. Robinson) on the screen at the same time; previous pan and scan TV prints usually trimmed off an actor or two during each scene. The only extra is the theatrical trailer.
