Fiber Optic Cables

A fiber optic cable uses flexible glass or plastic to carry light-based signals through a wire. Harnessing the speed of light makes fiber optic technology an extremely high-speed method of getting information from one place to another. When choosing the right HDMI cable for your setup, fiber optic HDMI cables can be a great option for maintaining strong signal quality over long distances.

Optic cables carry binary light signals that communicate with digital systems. These cables are used for many long-distance telecommunications systems, but they can also create high-speed data connections within your home with devices like a television or premium home speakers.

So, you will find these cables particularly useful for handling high resolution rates by creating a high-speed connection between a smart TV and a network modem or other device, like a PlayStation, XBOX, DVD player or Blu-Ray player. When setting up the wires, ensure you do not get kinks in or crush the optical cables under heavy furniture.

A fiber cable with a TOSLINK connector, also called an optical audio cable, is used in many home theater systems or home sound systems. It will carry high-quality sound from a television, video game console, DVD player or other device to the audio receiver, which communicates with your home audio system’s speakers.

Meanwhile, an HDMI connector is common for carrying visual and audio signals in one cable. Fiber optic HDMI cables can support greater speeds and data loads than many other HDMI cables, meaning you will benefit from one if you want to play movies at the highest resolution on a 4K TV or an 8K TV.

When you are choosing a new audio system for your home or setting up a home entertainment center, you can always seek expert advice and installation assistance from professional home theater and audio services. That way, you can make sure every component, including optical audio cables, is properly installed for the best possible sound performance.
