Alpine a leader in car audio quality, excellent!
|Posted .Boom boom bass is all you hear if you purchase this PWE-S8 system that comes with both woofer and amplifier in one single stylish and conveniently sized box that comes from Alpine. I know this because I have it inside my car, in the back middle seat facing the front of the car. My original wiring was for a 12" Hertz subwoofer that was located in my trunk of my car. So maybe that has something to do with its tremendous punch which, for an 8" to SOUND similar to a bigger unit is all you need to know and to appreciate its authenticity, durability, and most importantly versatility. This system uses its own bass nob module that you can place anywhere virtually, and let's you choose your own bass gain.

Something was missing in my life.....

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5In 2013, I replaced the factory radio in my 2008 Toyota Matrix with an Alpine INE-S920HD In-Dash GPS Navigation Receiver, 2 pairs of Pioneer TS-A1675R 3-Way Speakers, and an Alpine KTP-445U Head Unit Power Pack. Initially, I was very pleased with this setup. All I wanted to do was to overcome the noise of driving with the windows down and play the music I love. While working for Best Buy in 2017-2018, I noticed how many of my fellow Blue Shirts had subwoofers in their cars. Not wanting to be behind the times but also not wanting to break the bank on a sub-amp combination, I added this Alpine Powered Subwoofer System to my existing configuration. What a difference! Now the door speakers aren't carrying the same load to produce bass and sound better now that their bass response has been rolled off. Could I graduate to a stronger output amp for the speakers? Yeah, I could, but it would start an endless upgrade process and I'm not made of money. This is my final add-on... until I get another car but that's another story.

Great small sub for your bass needs!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Great small sub! Packs a lot of power and bass and fits perfectly beneath my passenger seat. The install team also provided a knob to adjust the bass, which provides great control depending on what mood I'm in. Better alternative to having a huge box in your trunk!

Solid Midbass, "Subwoofer" might be a stretch
|Posted .Owned for 3 months when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Impressive output for the size and helped clean up the otherwise stock system by taking the low frequencies off the door speakers. don't expect to rattle anything with this, but that's kind of the point, it made for much cleaner midbass vs running the door speakers full-range. Installed in the passenger footwell of a Miata and you can't even tell its there once the floor mat is in place! It sounds decent but doesn't play much below 45hz. I'm probably going to add a sub in the trunk or a tactile transducer (bass shaker) to augment, but it's a great start and keeps the image up front.

Good AIO

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5Excellent all in one compact solution. I wired this in overnight under the driver seat in my Civic. If you are wondering if it's enough bass, let me assure you, this thing is PRECISE and CLEAR and it can thump. It's not going to have the potential of a standalone with dedicated amp, BUT this has such clarity and depth, doesn't break the bank, and only takes up space that is already unused, it's my recommendation. It includes a bass knob with sticky Velcro, and mounting bracket. I just ran zipties through so that it's stationary from the high friction floor mats and easily removable if deemed necessary. At 50% capacity, it's still overwhelming in some music, and to someone who really appreciates the balance, I see absolutely no reason why this wouldn't work for everyone that doesn't want to flex on the neighbors with their groundshaker. This is beyond "good enough" and exceeds my expectations.

Great sound better than average

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I was looking for a sub for my Jeep, space was important. I was willing sacrifice sound but was very surprised with bass that this delivered. I don’t listen to much rap so younger folks might be a little more critical and expect more boom. This makes my classic rock, country and R&B sound well balanced.

Decent bass for the size and power
|Posted .Owned for 7 months when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Got this to fit under the seat of a 10th gen Civic Coupe and fits well under the passenger seat. The seat coils vibrate under certain frequencies which can be annoying. It's not a ton of bass, but it is an improvement over the stock subwoofer in a 10th gen Civic Coupe equipped with the factory subwoofer in the trunk lid, even more so at higher volumes where the factory sub would roll off. I disconnected the factory sub and am just running this little guy. Ultimately I am looking for better bass in the lower end and I knew this likely wouldn't be the optional choice for that. I'll be replacing this with a proper 10" in a box in the trunk and putting this in a 2nd gen Tacoma or a Fiesta hatchback, which ever it fits best in.

Q: QuestionWhat is the impedance?
Asked by Philly.
- A:Answer Does not matter this is a powered sub. The internal amp is correctly matched to the speaker included. You would either use the RCA input if your head unit has RCA out, or tap into your speaker leads (as shown in directions) since this connects to a electrical circuit not and inductive (speaker) your good no diminished sound from your speakers.
