Altec Lansing - HydraMini Everything Proof Speaker - Black

This is exactly what it looks like - an inexpensive speaker. Pros: easy connect w Bluetooth and decent range - like 50 feet. Small and mostly clear sound. Reasonable battery life. Cheap. Cons: battery life at a reasonable level is a bit less than 3 hours, but I was downhill skiing and it was cold which might have ann impact the battery life. I don’t know why there are lights but it is so annoying to turn them off if you accidentally turn them on. Really, sound is just OK and volume is not great. But if you need a quick and cheap Bluetooth speaker that can travel and seems to be snow-proof at least. Then this might do the trick for you!

This speaker packs a punch and has some serious sound quality for the size and price. Pros would be size, battery life, waterproofing, sound quality, and for the cons... well the type-C only charges with rudimentary USB chargers, for example computer USB ports or a USB A to USB C wall block, whereas a "smart" type C charger for most newer devices won't charge the device, not related to the cable. The other con would be that the lights are on by default. They are a pretty useless feature in my opinion, but I wish it would save the last state that it was in, i.e. the lights off vs when it's turned off and back on and the lights are flashing away.

Great sound, hi volume. Long lasting charge. Light show is a plus but I don’t use it. I can use it anywhere and even hang it on my belt loop.

I bought this for traveling. It's fits pretty much anywhere. It has decent to good sound. Perfect size for a desk.

It's very nice for the price. If playing at max volume, with the RGB lights on, the battery life is like 3-4 hours. Speaker only charges with the provided charging wire. No other USB-C wire works.

Works best in small to moderate spaces. Would have limed a little more volume if intended to be used outside.

First off, I've had several Altec Lansing speakers over the past few years and most have been anywhere from flawed to junk. Xpedition 4 would shut itself off all the time. Returned it and got another one, same deal. Street Shock speaker wouldn't turn on when first switched on, then would come on like 10 minutes later. After a while it just pops when turned on and never actually turned on. Altec Lansing just makes very low quality products, but tries to charge premium prices. After this HydraMini issue, I believe I'm done giving Altec Lansing more chances to prove themselves. They just make lousy Bluetooth speakers. The issue with the HydraMini is with the TWS linking using two speakers. One speaker works fine by itself. Sure, battery life is really bad, particularly with lights on. Not much bass from this speaker, but then again it is small and you really shouldn't expect something this size to have much bass. It's when you link two speakers together that the real problem arises. Linking two Hydramini speakers was simple enough using the steps instructed. Problem is after a little while playing they will start to get out of sync and sound like an echo. After it gets worse the speakers will like briefly pause, then are back in sync. Or sometimes the sound will just start cutting out for a little bit, then will quickly pause and then be back to normal. And sometimes they will just do a quick pause while playing for no apparent reason. I switched to use the blue speaker as the main speaker to see if it would make any difference compared to when I had the black speakers as the primary speaker, but still the same issue. Sorry, but this is the last straw for Altec Lansing. I've given this company more chances than they deserve to prove they have changed, but they haven't. Bye, Felicia.
