    Love the new iPad

I’m going to try and give an honest review for the iPad Pro 10.5 256GB. First let me say that I was coming from a iPad mini 2 (Retina Display) so the bar was set pretty low. Now, I am in the IT industry so i have a fairly good idea of when performance is limited by software, hardware or external factors like internet issues. The reasons I wanted to get something new are as follows. 1) The iPad Mini 2 was really starting to show signs of age and running really slow. 2) Ever since Microsoft put out some security updates, Google SketchUp stopped working for me. 3) My laptop was not able to keep up with my Video editing demands, even though they may be minor. My PC Specs: 3rd Gen i5, 12GB of RAM, 256SSD hard drive, 17.3” screen. I looked at chrome books, smaller laptops with i7 CPUs and with dedicated video cards, and iPads. My Requirements were as follows: 1) Able to use some sort of 3D design software. 2) Able to use decent Video Editing Software. 3) Easy to move around and work off the couch or in the car. 4) Compact, light, good battery life and easy to move around. 5) Keyboard that is detachable or foldable for strict use as a tablet. 6) SSD Hard Drive 7) FAST!!!! I finally decided the iPad was the way to go and it had to be the iPad Pro. My first impressions were, ok, it’s another iPad and everything is fast on it but what can it really do? The more I used it, the more i realized that it can do. Webpages loaded fast and looked very clean. I was able to fit more on the screen without scrolling around. I found it to be highly compatible with most websites. Meaning, they actually function! The old iPad Mini 2 was very slow at browsing and things could take a long time. On the IPad Pro, web browsing seems faster than my PC. It look me a few minutes to get used to the multitasking and screen splitting capabilities but it works really well. I can finally have two things on the screen so I can copy and past or enter key info from an email to a website. I ended up using Shapr3D for design. It works extremely well and is fast and smooth. For video editing I use LumaFusion. I used an SD card reader to import about 32 GB of video files. It only took what seemed like 2 minutes. It was much faster than when i imported to my PC. Using the video editing software was also very smooth and quick. Everything i did in it was fast. Even when it came down to exporting the video. This is something that could take 30 to 40 minutes on my PC and the iPad did it in like 3 minutes. Overall i could not be happier. I did get the Logitech keyboard, Apple Pencil and Zag Screen protector with the iPad. The Pencil and Keyboard are awesome. The Zag screen protector, ehh... Its very clear but seems to show a lot of glar and finger prints.

    iPad Pro Power

My first iPad was my iPad 2. For obvious cost reasons, I don't update my iPads as frequently as I do my other Apple devices. So after my iPad 2, I went to an iPad Air 1. It lasted well, but iOS 11 really slowed down the Air. I wouldn't be surprised if iOS 12 is the last version for the Airs. So when Best Buy had a pre-black Friday sales on iPads, I went looking. I found an open box, never used iPad Pro 10 with 256GB storage for $630. Since they retail for $799, that's a helluva deal! I was really surprised by how quickly this thing moves. I read that the iPad Pro 10's have 4GBs of RAM in them, up from the 2GB that the Pro 9.7's had. I'm guessing that my Air probably had 1GB or 512MB of RAM. This thing is like a speed demon. Animations are fluid and beautiful. The screen is just a bit larger than my old iPad, but it's still not gargantuan like the Pro 12. The refresh rate has been bumped up to 120MHz, so the video and animation is lifelike and rendered bright and beautifully on the 600 nits screen. If you're comparing the specs and features of the new iPads versus the Pros, you owe it to yourself to check out the Pros. Sure, they're more expensive, but the specs are much better and you also have the option of using the Apple Pencil. I haven't picked up the Pencil yet, but I have a feeling it's only a matter of time before I do. The Pros have enough hardware in them to essentially make them more future-proof than the Airs / regular iPads nowadays. Gaming is quick and clean with no frame rate issues. Here's a rundown of the Pro 10 specs that I think matter most: * 2.38 GHz Ax10 Fusion Chip (6 Cores) / M10 Motion Coprocessor * 12 Core GPU * 4GB RAM * 10.5 inch screen, thinner bezel on sides * 2224 x 1668 resolution, 264ppi, * 120MHz refresh rate with 600 nits brightness * Storage Tiers - 64GB, 256GB, 512GB

I never write reviews but always read many so thought I would finally contribute. I upgraded from iPad Air 16 GB (first version—2013) to iPad Pro 10.5 256 GB. What an upgrade and much needed one at that! Received an in-store credit for iPad Air trade-in and got the iPad on sale, too. Like the 10.5 size—little bigger than the 9.7 but not too big to carry around. Contemplated just getting latest version of 9.7 iPad but there are so many advantages to getting iPad Pro that I felt like extra money was worth the investment. Improved features from iPad Air: 1) Picture quality; 2) Faster responsiveness of touch (compared to my old iPad that was starting to have problems); 3) More memory; 4) Fingerprint identification to unlock; 5) More speakers/improved sound quality. While memory capacity is not an issue if you use cloud or third-party storage (I.e. Dropbox), it will be nice to have this, given the video quality capability is improved on this. I have not bought an Apple Pencil yet—will see if I can do without. I mainly use iPad for email, surfing web/social media, referencing documents in meetings and lecture notes for class. All in all, after all my research, I decided to upgrade to iPad Pro 10.5 instead of just 9.7 newest iPad. A little more money goes a long way in getting extra features. If you’re contemplating between 9.7 version and iPad Pro, go with the iPad Pro. Finally, I always pair my iPad with a Zagg keyboard folio case and Zagg shield. Makes iPad so much more functional and easy to use. Good luck on your research! Happy shopping!

I bought the 10.5 size and I think this is the perfect size for my needs. I needed it to be portable, can't do that with a 12.9 since it is a large size tablet and cumbersome and the 9.7 is just too small. You can't read on the large size either (i.e. Hold it up for a long time without getting tired). The 10.5 has a comfortable feel if you want to read, it is light and it has a large enough screen for people like me who wear glasses, I am able to use it as a laptop. I use it for emails, online surfing/shopping since I really hate to shop so I save time this way. I will be taking this with me on travel. I have yet to play around with the bells & whistles this thing has. I bought the Microsoft office suite and glad I did. I just uploaded Spotify and I love it, first time I have used it. This is my first iPAD (I only have an iPod and iTouch and a couple of other tablets, they are slow compared to the iPad Pro, for sure). Almost got the iPad Air but I am glad I got this instead and I got the Wifi only, not the Wifi with cellular. I already have a phone so why do I need to pay for another plan. Yes it is pricey but I pulled the trigger on this anyway and glad I did. Worth it for sure and I am very happy with this product! Bought the Bose Soundsport wireless earbuds too and that's another 5-star review.

I bought this because I wanted something that I could take notes with in class. I tried to replace traditional note-taking (in notebooks) with other tablets including the iPad Air but it never felt right and I always reverted back to using notebooks. The iPad Pro, however, works beautifully with the apple pen and feels really natural. I can take notes easily and comfortably (it no longer feels awkward as with other tablets). My favorite thing about it is that I can follow along with my professors on the PowerPoints and take notes directly on each PowerPoint - I recommend the app Liquid Text if you would like to do this. I also draw which makes this iPad even more useful and fun to use for me. My last iPad was the Air and it literally just sat and collected dust because I found zero use for it. Now Apple has made the iPad much more functional and practical for someone like me. I can organize all of my class notes and consolidate all of my textbooks with e-books on this device which of course you can do with other tablets but the fact that I am now able to actively take notes on it makes the act much more rewarding. Now my backpack is filled with weightlessness and don't have to walk all the way back to my car just to get a notebook or textbook so I can study at the library :) If you're in the market for an iPad right now then I highly recommend this one along with the Apple Pen.

I’ve had iPad Air for awhile. I decided to upgrade because my iPad Air sometimes froze and shut off suddenly. What I noticed right away is the screen is brighter and even though it wasn’t much bigger than the 9.7 iPad, this 10.5 screen actually looks so much bigger. And of course the improvement with the resolution and the camera is a very nice addition that I can count as necessary. I decided to go “big” by buying the very expensive Apple keyboard and the Apple Pencil. I have not used the pencil that much so I can’t say much about it except it’s very responsive. The keyboard on the other hand is a very useful addition to this very functional iPad. I have MacBook that I haven’t used in a while since I have iPad Air. This combo iPad Pro, keyboard and pencil might make that obsolete except for some heavier computer work. If you have the budget for it, don’t hesitate to get this iPad Pro and the expensive Apple “attachments”. They keyboard does not need to be charged separately, nor it needs a battery. It just works right away with the iPad Pro. No fuss, no muss.

    Near-perfect hybrid

I had been slightly nervous about what hybrid to get, I knew I wanted tablet/laptop to replace my now dead MacBook, but it was hard to choose. I’m SUPER glad I went with this. First of all, it’s great you can choose from different GB options, I found the 256 to be perfect for what I needed and not too over-priced. Attaching Bluetooth keyboards is also smooth in transition and quite helpful. The new iOS allowing Microsoft apps and advanced keyboard options also feels like a great step forward especially when I need it to behave as a desktop. Obviously it’s not going to completely replace your desktop or laptop, but with the amount of new apps arriving every year and Apple moving closer to behaving like Microsoft, I have good faith in what’s to come. The WiFi I’ve noticed is spotty, like most apple products, and logins requiring a pop up page to type a WiFi password rarely ever cooperate or show up, leaving me without access to WiFi (yes, I have pop up block disabled and settings adjusted as needed, too). So I hope that gets fixed. Also of course handling photo editing, music editing, and video editing, using both the keyboard and touch screen it is easier than ever. Also Apple Pencil is worth the tag, get it. I wasn’t expecting being this happy with this purchase, I just hope the desktop features keep coming and the WiFi access with login pages comes soon.

    Best device I've ever owned

I sold my 2-in-1 Dell laptop after becoming far too frustrated with the quality and performance of it's hardware (particularly the touch screen and trackpad). I figured that I was taking a leap by switching to the iPad Pro, but to be honest, this thing is incredible. As of this writing, I've owned it for 7 months. No interface lag, apps run smoothly, there are near professional level apps for small projects and hobbies (photography, video editing, note taking, etc). The screen is gorgeous and I can't say that I miss the extra real estate that my laptop had, both in terms of screen size and the weight/bulk of the device. I fully expect this iPad to last me a number of years more than any laptop, which is exactly what I was looking for. I can't comment on the Pencil, but have tried other styli and haven't been impressed, so that may change! Final point: the battery lasts ages. As I write this (from my iPad), I am at 50% battery with 7hrs of usage plus 37hrs of standby since its last full charge (it hasn't been plugged in at all since hitting 100%). My laptop could never do that!
