Surface Pro without doubt. I'm a teacher and a designer. Ipads are amazing tools, but incomplete. Your Ipad will not be able to run PC or Mac software, which is what your classes will demand. If you can only get one- DEFINITELY the surface. (I have both, and both are amazing, but if I had to have just one, Surface without doubt.)

I like the Surface, and use it as a "regular" computer. I think the Surface would be the better choice for school, 'cause it can do it all; the iPad is great, but it has its limitations... That being said, I am lusting for this device - but I just can't justify owning a Surface, an iMac 21', an iPod, smartphone (Android), AND an iPad Pro! (I just like gadgets...)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.For play, the Apple iPad pro, but for school work, study, writing papers, taking notes, etc., get the Surface Pro without a doubt. The Surface Pro really can replace a desktop. The iPad pro really is not there yet.

I do believe you can buy software that can be compatible for either device. I wish you the best of luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think it would depend on the school. Our school uses Google docs, etc. my daughter's school uses Microsoft 365. For both, I prefer the iPad Pro. I use it all the time. Also, I think it depends on your family. Do you have mostly android or apple devices? The integration is really helpful. If you are mostly Apple and the school works through the web, i would go iPad. But - if the school is mostly android or PC and is not using an online platform, you might want to go Microsoft.
