Great hardware paired with uninspiring software.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I made the switch from a Google Pixel 5, after being [basically] a life-long Android user. I really like the iPhone 13 Mini itself, from a hardware perspective. However, I also feel like it's necessary to talk about the software considering it's what you'll be noticing and interacting with moreso than the specifics of the hardware [of the phone itself], if that makes sense. The Mini is more-or-less the perfect size. It's a small phone that you can easily put in your pocket and use with one hand, yet it has a relatively-large screen when you compare it to phones from 6+ years ago. The camera quality is just as good as the rest of the iPhone 13 line-up excluding the extra, third camera you get on the Pro models. The green finish, by the way, has to be one of the nicest colors I've seen on a phone. It looks more expensive than it is. Now that we've gotten the niceties out of the way, let's talk about why I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5. It's a great phone, but iOS to me is just 'good.' It's not very inspiring. As a lifelong Android user, I always heard people tell me they liked iPhones because they were easy to use. Now that I've switched to one, myself, I have to say that Android is actually easier to use. It's more intuitive, and functions are laid out in a much cleaner fashion. Take the 'Night Light' or 'Night Filter' (blue light filter) function that gives your screen a yellow-ish hue, which makes it easier on your eyes at night. To enable the night filter function on an iPhone, you have to swipe down from the top of the phone to access the control panel/command center. However, you have to know to swipe down from the top RIGHT, specifically. If you swipe from the top LEFT, you get a different panel. Once you've pulled up the command center, you have to know to tap-and-hold on the screen brightness slider. Doing so opens up another panel that's like a 'Brightness Settings' page. On that page, there's a toggle on the bottom for the Night Filter. This isn't very intuitive to me. You may never know the command center exists unless you know to swipe down from the top right of the phone. Furthermore, once you're on the command center, there is nothing that tells you that you can tap-and-hold the brightness slider to access additional settings. You would genuinely never know unless someone told you, you read it somewhere, or you did it accidentally. On Android, you swipe down anywhere from the top to access the settings. On the settings panel, you can swipe left or right to navigate between 'quick settings' buttons. You just swipe until you see Night Light and toggle it on/off. Admittedly Android 12 has made this slightly more difficult as you have to swipe down twice to access 'additional' settings, but you can actually adjust which options are displayed for you after the first swipe. Even beyond that, Pixel phones actually have fantastic tutorials/tips that are baked into the phone. Notifications on iPhone just feel extremely outdated compared to Android phones. Interacting with notifications isn't very fluid. On Android, you can interact with quite a lot of notifications right on the Notifications window, without ever accessing the respective apps. You can do some of this on iPhone but for the most part, you'll have to open the apps themselves. I do like how the iPhone has a physical, hardware mute switch. I'm surprised that OnePlus is the only Android manufacturer that has copied this feature. It should be a staple on every phone. Overall, I quite like the Mini itself, but I feel like iPhone and iOS is rather uninspiring. I switched to iPhone because my Pixel 5 was giving me quite a lot of problems related to calling (on T-Mobile, it would just randomly drop calls, or I wouldn't hear the other person unless I turned off Wi-Fi). Google also didn't care to fix many of the issues I had, and I felt Apple was at least more reliable in this regard considering how many people owned iPhones. Thus, I do appreciate the stability of iPhones. Most people do not need the Pro-series iPhones. I highly doubt most of the people who have iPhone Pros have ever used the telephoto camera, rather than just the standard, default wide-angle lens. If you're in the market for a new iPhone, I can happily suggest the Mini. It's heavily rumored that the Mini phones will be discontinued in the Fall of 2022 (when the iPhone 14 line-up is announced), likely due to poor sales. Do yourself a favor and buy this smaller phone. You save money, but you'll also save yourself some trouble once you realize you really don't need that bigger screen. This one - and this phone in general - is big enough.

Best trade in and promo value
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I absolutely love the new improvements to the 13. I also loved how Best Buy out did even Apple with it’s blowout trade in value! I traded in my 12 mini and I was able to get a 13 mini for less than $70 including taxes less then $120. It was insane, I was about to purchase it through Apple until I just so happen to come across Best Buy. I was able to get my trade in and promo values up front saving money up front also no need to wait for a gift card weeks later. I saved so much at the time and I now own my device so I can unlock it asap. The trade in was so simple and easy and actually fun to go in store for once and be prioritized with great reps. Now I am able to have the latest model for once without having to break the bank.

iPhone 13 Mini
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Nice phone. This is same footprint as the earlier version or iphone 7 and up, but with mostly full screen. At the top there is the sound that never really noticed, until I got the phone and it does stand out. Missed the fact that I can't show percentage of battery life and have to scroll up to view it. Otherwise happy with it.

Perfect Upgrade from iPhone SE (1st Generation)
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Upgraded from iPhone SE (1st Gen). Thank you Apple for making a small iPhone again! I almost got the 12 mini, but waited until 5G was available in my area. Worth the wait and so nice to have a modern phone with all the frills of the larger 13, but in a smaller package. With the edge to edge screen display, my display screen in actually larger than my friend's iPhone 8! The 13 mini is only slightly larger than my old trusty SE and I believe this was necessary because of the 5G antenna. I hope Apple continues making phones this size as I want a phone, not a tablet!

Perfect little iPhone
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.LOVE this device. The small size makes it SO easy to one hand. I even have big hands and have no issues using it. If Apple made a Pro mini it would be the best iPhone that apple ever made in my opinion. My ONLY complaint is the battery life. I have to charge it after about 9 hours.

Q: QuestionHow long will the T-mobile activation be there before I can unlock the device and use another carrier??
Asked by Daksh.
- A:Answer Depends upon how you handling situations. Standard wait time is 40 days. If you paid full, then you can request via T-Mobile social network to get unlock within 3 days. You should have account in T-Mobile and the phone must be fully paid off. I purchased 3 phones from Best Buy. All of them unlocked with in week.
Answered by Rmani
Q: QuestionIf I preorder the iPhone 13 mini then it is $100 off for activation, but I am already a Tmobile subscriber. Does that apply to me or how does that work because I would like to take advantage of the $100 discount from the current price. I am confused.
Asked by Bosey.
- A:Answer You’re not confused. You nailed it. Being a current subscriber to T-Mobile, you would have to add a line to your account to receive the discount. Likely check in with a T-Mobile store, as there might be upgrade offers if you were to trade in a device that is eligible. Hope this helps!

Q: QuestionDo i have to purchase the phone through a carrier or can i just purchase the phone and take it to my own carrier?
Asked by Sonny.
- A:Answer From what I see on Best Buy you can't buy the newest iphone unlocked, not sure why. Just head to apple and buy from them.
Answered by SilveradoZ71
Q: QuestionThis is dumb. If you offer $320 for my device and I pay the rest out of pocket, it technically IS my device and should be fully unlocked. Why won't you state that the $100 discount is designed to hold us hostage to the original carrier? Thanks.
Asked by Janis.
- A:Answer Acteually, they are giving $200 off when we trade in phone. But, the phone can be unlocked through t-mobile. I unlocked immediately by contacting T-Mobile via social network. On my personal account.
Answered by Rmani
Q: QuestionIs this phone unlocked? Does it have to be activated with a contract at T-Mobile, or can one do prepaid with TMobile?
Asked by Kitty.
- A:Answer I still can't see the lock/unlock status on my T-Mobile account but if you go to BestBuy store, they'll do everything for you (setting up and activating your new phone). We have a T-Mobile One plan which we didn't have to mess around with at all. Everything works as it should including 5G.

Q: QuestionCan I simply have this T-Mobile locked iPhone shipped to my house and just swap the SIM card from my existing Samsung phone? I already have an active T-Mobile account. I just want to be able to switch between phones whenever I want.
Asked by Mick.
- A:Answer Heck yes that’s the beauty of SIM Cards really as long as they are being inserted into a network device you can pretty much go to go. So if both devices are T-Mobile devices you will be fine. The only thing that makes a locked phone “locked” means that the device can only be used exclusively for a network until certain events occur such as paying the device off 12 months after being on a network of you are on a monthly payoff. I am not certain as to what all the rules are as I have always purchased my phone upfront and been with T-Mobile for quite some time. If you want to know more about the rules and how to swap out SIM cards better Samsung to IPhone there’s step by step instructions on Apple for where the iPhones SIM card is and how to place it. You may even be able to use a virtual SIM card and never have to take out any of the SIM cards and instead switch between the two or have both on at the same time. It’s your choice! The SIM card being attached to the account is all you’ll need.
