    Average and getting phased out

The ink works great for photos! Unfortunately for us, the Canon printers these go into are being phased out with no driver support. Canon should do better at allowing drivers to be up to date for the length that the printer works. We bought our printer in 2013 but it was first out in 2008 (not to our knowledge). We assume that our printers should be supported until they die but not the case. I guess if we knew it came out in 2008, we might have looked for something more recent? :( Ink is cheaper and lasts not as long as HP ink cartridges but that is what makes it affordable to the average person who may only use their printers for basic things.

Great quality ink with a drawback.

I love the quality of the ink and it surpasses HP ink by a lot. Beautiful pictures, great looking documents, easy to install, nice meter reading and I am content with how long it lasts. However, I do notice how Canon likes to "self clean" their printers every time I turn on my printer and drain some ink out that wasn't even going to be used. Really Canon? I'm paying plenty for the cartridges and I don't need you to "$elf clean" my printer so I can purchase more ink..... $$$$$$$..... Nevertheless I would still recommend Canon printers and their ink because of all their positives.

Ink I Need For My Printer

In an effort to save a bit, I recently tried non-Canon ink for my printer. While it ended up working, getting there involved multiple pages without printing, the need to run upstairs multiple times to reset the ink to try to make it work, and ink all over my fingers (as well as almost being late to an interview - I was printing my resume). After that hassle, despite the higher cost, I will now ONLY buy the official Canon ink. Only issue I have in general is that last time I went, I was unable to find the colored inks for my printer (#221). I find I do have to buy this particular ink (Black #220) more than any other color.

Many people believe buying generic ink for their printers is a great way to save money. You may save money when you buy the ink but, in the long run, you have wasted money. Generic ink just does not give you the same quality or quantity as the genuine ink meant for your printer. I have found this for all the printers I have owned. I have tried the generic ink and I always come back to buying Canon Ink for my Canon printer. I know I am getting the best quality printing and the highest number of sheets per ink cartridge over generic ink.

The 15% discount puts these right in line with some of the on-line retailers so that's a fair deal considering I also get to take it home. Plus no shipping fees. I like to use new OEM cartridges in my photo printer to keep the image quality up. I've tried to use a refill service from a number of vendors and an after-market brand also too, but the results were never the same when it comes to printing photos. Refills and clones may be okay for just plain old text and documents in B&W, but stick with the good stuff when you're doing a photo.

I bought this because our printer sometimes goes through ink quickly (and we don't print that much)! This is good because the price seems reasonable in that it's not priced like HP ink (which, by the way, pound for pound costs more than gold......No really, do the math :))! The other bad thing is that our local Best Buy doesn't always stock these. It's hit or miss with them. They just happened to have them when I needed it this time, so that's not really a complaint............This time!

It's not like you have much choice in the matter. You buy a printer, and you need to use compatible cartridges. Your only other option is generic refills. But, I can say that this particular Canon cartridge performs reliably and provides a good amount of ink. Depending on your printing settings (I go fast, grayscale, economy), the cartridge will continue to spit out pages long after your computer tells you you're out of ink. So I can't complain.

Best Buy gets my orders to me faster than almost any other company. I am active duty military stationed overseas in Germany and the ink I order arrives in less than 10 days every time, regardless of how much I order and the size of the package. Nothing I've ordered from anywhere in the last three years arrives here that consistently fast every time. If you're military and working overseas, definitely check out here.
