They're all gonna laugh at you!

Sissy Spacek plays the timid Carrie White, a girl who is tormented by her classmates, and abused by her religious fanatic mother, Margaret (Piper Laurie). No one likes her, except for her gym teacher Miss Collins (Betty Buckley), but after a terrible prank in the girls locker room, one of the pranksters, Sue Snell (Amy Irving) feels sorry for what she did and asks her popular football player jock boyfriend Tommy (William Katt) to ask Carrie to the prom. He agrees and for once, the audience is happy for Carrie, seeing she is having a great time at the prom, but the evil Chris Hargenson (Nancy Allen) decides to pull a prank on Carrie that proves all too deadly. This film is fantastic. It is a cross between drama (the first half) and complete horror (the second half). The weird thing is, you really do feel sorry for Carrie! The way she is tormented by her classmates and her mother is awful, but the viewer knows about her new "powers" and she really makes use of them during that prom! By the way, in case anyone is confused by this, Carrie was imagining her classmates laughing at her, they really weren't. Based on the novel by Stephen King, it spawned numerous imitations and was followed by a sequel 23 years later.

Not just another horror movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll admit I like torture films and in Carrie there are different types of torture. Carrie is an abused teenager with a void where her self-esteem should be. Her mother is a whacko religious nut who likes to violently throw Carrie around for imagined sins and lock her in the closet for days on end. Carrie is not so much a horror film as it is a psychological one. High school misfit Carrie finally has enough and unleashes her telekinetic fury on her tormentors. Although the movie was made in 1976 it can still be enjoyed today. Nowadays, we have literal truck loads of books on how to deal with our tormented teenage daughters. Is this movie the reason those books were written?

Original Scream Queen!!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can I say about this classic suspense/horror film? This movie haunted the heck out of me for years since seeing it at a very young age (yes 6 years old my parents let me watch this with them!) I'll never forget how I cringed when that blood hit her, she looked like a demented clown to me with those bulging blue eyes! The ending is one of the best in movie history and of course I was afraid a hand was going to come from under the bed after I saw it. This is Brian DePalma's best work in my opinion as far as suspense/thrillers.

Best Bluray of Carrie money can buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Big fan of this movie I own the original MGM bluray which was ok soft picture decent sound. The new Scream Factory bluray is mastered in 4k from the OCN from what ive read so I buy it Well this is the best Carrie has ever looked period I did a side by side comparison and it is night and day Now it is still a little soft that is the way it was filmed but colors and fine grain make all of the difference Sound was about the same to be honest maybe a little better in the bass but for the most part a draw If you are a fan this is the one to buy Excellent

Still one of the best teenage horror movies
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The classic Brian De Palma film is worth having in any person's horror library. Most of the actors in this movie were relatively unknown in this 1976 film, but gave stellar performances which made this movie stand the test of time. The dynamics between Carrie and her mother are especially memorable. The special effects may be primitive by today's standard, but they still pack a punch.
