Q: Does this turntable come with a cartridge ???
A: It does come with a cartridge but its not a good one. The one supplied has a Conical Stylus which is the worst for sound reproduction as it rides high in the groves, it also only puts out 2.5 mv of power which is not much. I added a Grado Green cartridge with an Elliptical stylus and it puts out 5 mv of power, the best part of this turntable is the fact that you can replace the cartridge with the best one you can afford as this is what produces the sound and you sound system is only as good as your weakest link
A: You can do it both ways. The Denon has a switch under the platter that allows you to hook it to a preamp or directly to the aux or phono connections on your device. Note that it is an AV connection only and does not support other connections.

The AT-LP70XBT fully automatic wireless belt-drive turntable is designed for budding vinylphiles – those who love sitting back with the album art in hand to enjoy warm, analog music as the artist intended. Added Bluetooth wireless technology gives you the option to listen to your vinyl over Bluetooth-enabled speakers, headphones, or other devices, including those that support the high-quality Qualcomm aptX Adaptive audio codec.Arguably, the most important component for generating high-fidelity audio from vinyl is a quality phono cartridge. Audio-Technica has been a leader in phono cartridge design for more than 60 years, and we’ve drawn on that expertise to create a versatile, high-performance cartridge for this turntable – performance that other turntables in this class simply can’t match. Integrated into the J-shaped tonearm, the AT-VM95C cartridge with 0.6 conical stylus offers excellent channel separation and low distortion for outstanding tonal quality. And the stylus can also be easily upgraded with any of the other styli (elliptical, microlinear, or Shibata) in our VM95 Series, offering customization that is normally only possible on a turntable with a detachable headshell and cartridge. The easy-to-use AT-LP70XBT plays both 33-1/3 and 45 RPM records and, in addition to its Bluetooth wireless technology, has a built-in switchable phono preamp that allows the turntable to also be connected directly to a home stereo, powered speakers, computer or other component, whether that component has a dedicated phono input or not. The three-piece, anti-resonance chassis provides a solid foundation that dampens unwanted noise for improved sound quality. Noise is further reduced by the inclusion of an AC adapter that moves the AC/DC conversion outside of the chassis to limit its impact on the signal chain. The turntable comes with a detachable RCA output cable (dual RCA male to dual RCA male with ground), 45 RPM adapter, and removable hinged dust cover, and is available in three color schemes: Black/Silver, Black/Bronze, and White/Silver.
