Digimon game meant for fans
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.Excellent game if you are into story plots, emotional and dark topics, and Digimon! I like the game as the music and overall story are really good. You can get to choose your ending according to how you interact with the other characters. However, the only bad side is that fighting is only 20-30%, which I wish there could be more.

Game is good, don't follow the review bombers
Posted .I've been following Digimon since its release back in the 90s with the original release of Digimon Adventure. I have played every release so hear me out. This game has a heavy emphasis on the visual novel aspect (you're playing a well written Digimon Anime if you think about it). Yet people will pay 69.99 for a Call of Duty game that offers the same gameplay 8 years over and over. Anyway, If you don't care for the story you can skip a lot of the dialogue and be in battle in about 10-25 minutes (Fire Emblem grid based gameplay). I purchased the Switch version to support the developers. I purchased the PS4 version digitally to take advantage of the Guilmon bonus first month bonus. The game has roughly 12 chapters and can be beaten in about 40 hours. 80 - 100 if you want 100% completion. 59.99 is a a steep price, I do recommend this game if you were seriously into the first three seasons of the anime. Otherwise wait for it to go on sale.

A very good VISUAL NOVEL with fun RPG Elements
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.First of all, if you don't like VNs, don't buy this game. A VN has a lot of reading...it's a visual novel and that's how they work. I play all kinds of games, traditional RPGS, MMORPGS, JRPGS, Platformers, VNS, etc and I can say that this is a very well made game. I've played a lot of other VNS and this is the most hands-on I've ever played. People want to complain that there aren't enough battles. The game seems to average 2 battles a chapter for the main story. However, you can do as many auxiliary battles as you like and they are necessary for recruiting new Digimon and leveling characters. In regards to the story, It is very adult and serious which is actually super refreshing. You have to make choices which ensure the survival of members of your party. There are also many more serious themes which lurk within the backstories of the main cast. My only complaint is the free time that is in each level. Essentially, you have a set amount of chat icons to spend for the free period in order to raise your relationships status with other characters and their Digimon. I don't like that you can't skip it and that you have to use all the chat icons. It feels like the developers are giving you the illusion of choice in who you can speak to, when in reality, you have to speak with everyone. Otherwise, there are enough twist and turns to keep the game interesting..providing that you actually know how to read, which some people who have bought this game apparently aren't able to do.

Got my code emailed to me...
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. While the game did not come with the code included in the box, I got it emailed to me today 8/2/22. Otherwise I find the game fairly easy to play; although I wish there was a autoplay or skip button for all the text. They weren't kidding about the visual novel aspect. While this whole launch month dlc has left a bad taste in my mouth, I really want there to be more Digimon games coming to the west.

Engaging and entertaining!
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I originally planned to wait on Digimon Survive, not because I wasn’t interested, but because there’s so many other releases and only so much spending money to go around. Then I saw that Bandai Namco had given the release a lower physical print run, especially for the Switch version, than usual. It was sold out on Best Buy where I had reward certificates to spend and I was scared I’d missed out. Thankfully, upon routinely checking the app, I noticed it was available to add to cart and I promptly went through the check out, added my rewards, and completed the purchase at around $44. I’ve managed to play about 1 hour so far and from what I’ve experienced, I’m loving every minute of the game so far. Digimon Survive is primarily a visual novel (ie, Dangonronpa) with grid based strategy combat (ie, Fire Emblem, Stella Glow). It leans heavily on the visual novel / point and click gameplay from what I hear and what I’ve experienced so far but that’s perfectly fine with me. The characters, plot set up, world, and atmosphere so far have all been very engaging and interesting. It reminds me a lot of the original Digimon Adventure anime, just with a more mature, creepy tone. If you’re a fan of story and character heavy games, of SRPG combat, and of both reading and watching anime, then I’d highly recommend this to you. While I’m admittedly not a big Digimon fan, I did enjoy the original anime season growing up and the Digimon Movie. This game seems to be a sort of spiritual successor / restart to the original show and set up. Especially in my busy life right now, Digimon Survive is the perfect game for me to play. I don’t have time to put into games with deeper mechanics like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and my play sessions are very short — Survive is perfect for extended or short sessions, where each one feels akin to picking up an exciting novel again or starting another episode of an anime. The graphics, soundtrack, and gameplay all feel high quality, too. As long as you understand this is going to entail a lot of reading with a little bit of turn based action thrown in throughout, I think you’ll enjoy this game. It’s been absolutely worth it so far for me and I can’t wait to get back to it each time I have to step away!

Q: QuestionWill this included the Guilmon preorder bonus? I included an image of the DLC listed for copies purchased at Walmart.
Asked by DigiFan.
- A:Answer Best Buy is not participating in the dlc. Buy it elsewhere.

Q: QuestionHow do I get my DLC?
Asked by CorWad.
- A:Answer If you already bought it from Best Buy, you’re screwed unfortunately. Despite being listed on the official Bandai website as a retailer for the launch bonus, they aren’t doing it nor accepting returns for not giving us the bonus. Buy it from GameStop or Amazon!

Q: QuestionThis is a blanket answer regarding the DLC. BESTBUY did not fumble the DLC, this was BANDAI NAMCO's fault. They are notoriously bad at distribution. IF YOU SEND A RECEIPT TO BANDAI NAMCO, THEY WILL HONOR THE DLC CODE
Asked by Chris.
- A:Answer I received my dlc code a few days after getting the game. It was send via email from bestbuy.

Q: QuestionIs this actually releasing on July 29th? It says it is, but only *after* my confirmed order did it tell me there's no official release date. The game on Switch got pulled from Amazon and there's no trace of it on storefronts. BB should have copies right?
Asked by Sus.
- A:Answer Yes, but don’t get it from Best Buy if you want the Guilmon dlc. Get it from gamestop or Amazon.
