Good Grey-ray
||Posted .I heard good things about this move over the years so I decided to buy it. I think if I'd seen it 14 years ago I would of liked it more, back before Disney was making Pirates of the Carribian movies and before Marvel and DC super hero movies were popular. It just seems like a mash-up between Kill Bill, Death Proof, Pulp Fiction...in black and white. Maybe I'm tired of hearing all this stuff about Tarantino's production company. Other than that it looks great for B & W but I suppose most of us don't buy nice big 2160p TV's to watch black and white movies. The actors performances I thought stood out were Mickey Rourke and the female actor that sat in the back seat of that 1971 Dodge Challenger with Zoe Bell hanging on the hood in Death Proof, sorry don't know her name. I didn't know it was based on a comic book until I watched some of the special features. I'd probably watch it again, I'd like to see the 148 minute version of it, maybe I'd enjoy it more.

A Very Offbeat Noir Movie
||Posted .I saw "Sin City" in the theater when it first came out and wanted it for my collection so I bought the Blu Ray version. A friend and I watched it on his 80" plasma and it was just as good as the theater and it has the directors cut. The directors cut is a nice added feature but I like the theater version better as many of the scenes in the directors cut don't really add any meaningful information. The cinematography is off the wall as it was a "ground breaking" movie when it came out. The noir genre mood of the movie is enhanced by the colorization that comes in during certain scenes. The overall plot is good but at times there are too many characters to keep track of. It will stay in my collection though as it is a movie to watch over again to pick up things you missed before.

Violent-corruption comes to the "dark" screen.
||Posted .Opening Scene: A young man standing atop a skyscraper terrace simultaneously assassinates the Red Dressed young-woman he holds in a tender clutch followed by Opening Credits. This movie is shot with dark contrasts and in B&W with Color Accents – to symbolize the corrupt town vice its good side, used to differentiate characters such as Goldie and her twin-sister and to mirror the look of comic books – and it is told in a moving picture high-drama comic book format. This is a study of all aspects of corruption, evil, and crime, and it is told in a very explicit fast-moving dark-fashion. And there is the unexpected twist but fitting ending. Its’ intensive plot-line provides entertainment to be remembered.

A Robert Rodriguez cult style
||Posted .Of the other steelbook versions I have for the film Sin City, this Best Buy version in my opinion is the best release to have as a collectible item based on the steelbook art, and it is a great neo-noir film by Robert Rodriguez. This steelbook features a front art with Jessica Alba dancing in the rain, and a back art with Bruce Willis and others from the theatrical release poster. It also has inside art with Mickey Rourke and Brittany Murphy. It's designed very well with the black and white theme consistently throughout just like in the movie. I purchased this steelbook on sale for $9.99 even I already have the other releases, don't hesitate to get this nice steelbook version if anyone likes the film Sin City.

Got to see it!
||Posted .I wish the rating scale went up to 10 stars because I'd enthusiastically give them all to Sin City. I've watched it several times and I am still blown away by the dialog and gritty throwback feeling it evokes of the old 30's and 40's hard-drinking, hard-fighting tough guys. The film makes no apology for the raw lust and violence and yet never falls into campy self-parody.But it's the film-work, the use of light and shadow and especially color that really blows you away. Yellow for the corrupt, cowardly blood of the pederast villain. Masterful! If you haven't seen Sin City, give your senses a treat and buy the DVD. You won't be disappointed!
