this game is the best it is better than the other 4, it is easier to play,(I should Know I play on EXPERT),plus the hammer on's and Pull off's are even easier to pull off since it tells you when to do them. Best song sellection ever, way better than rock band, and awsome graphics. But away from the game being good, there are some people that say it is not good, and I think they just say this because they cant play, they should not blame the game just because they cant play(Snowball 1029 and Keebah), maybe these two should play on easy so they can hit some of the notes. Anyways, if you havent bought this game you should because it will be the best decision of your life.

Worthy Installment to the Series

Pros: If you’ve played Guitar Hero (GH) before, GH3 is easy to pick up and play due to the fact that it plays just like its predecessors. The inclusion of substantially more master tracks is a very welcome addition to GH3. Master tracks, for those who don’t know, are the original recordings as you would hear on the artist’s album as opposed to the cover versions found in previous GH games. The Co-op Career Mode and Boss Battle Mode make for nice additions to the game and expand on the already great multiplayer aspect of the GH series.
Cons: GH3’s gameplay is a bit of a double-edged sword. While it’s fun and lives up to the standard of the GH series, it’s essentially identical to the previous titles. So much so that if you removed the Co-op Career Mode and Boss Battle Mode, the only difference between GH3 and GH2 would be the setlists. I will say that the additions to the multi-player aspect of the game are the right kind of additions to have given that for most people GH3 is a social game they’ll be playing either online or with friends in their living room. But there just isn’t enough new gameplay to really set GH3 that far apart from earlier installments in the series. This leads to a fairly unchallenging experience for anyone who played through and mastered earlier GH games. The other major Con is the inclusion of certain songs that I don’t personally feel have a place in a game that focuses on impressive guitar work. Examples include: “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys, “Sunshine of Your Love” by Cream and “Bulls on Parade” by Rage Against the Machine. Beastie Boys = Rap not Rock. If we’re going to have Clapton, make it “Leila”. Most Rage songs are just repetitive power chords over and over again…kind of like their lyrics. And if the game’s subtitle is “Legends of Rock”, where are Jimi Hendrix and AC/DC? Weird: Not a pro and not a con, the “European Invasion” setlist in the career mode is just plain weird. Why? Because of the 5 songs in that setlist, only 2 are songs by European bands (Black Sabbath and $ex Pistols). The other three are all American (Weezer, Pearl Jam and Sonic Youth). This is even weirder considering that there are at least three other European bands in other setlists that could simply have been included in “European Invasion” (Cream, The Who and The Rolling Stones).

A Good Workout

Guitar hero III is one of my favorite games on the PS2. I haven't played any of the other ones, but this one is very addicting and very entertaining. The controller is a wireless plastic guitar with 5 different colored frets at the top of the neck, a stum bar at the base, and a Wammy Bar. There is also a black strap to hold the guitar up around your neck, which is adjustable.
To play the game, you must press the fret buttons while strumming the strum bar according to the pattern that flashes across the screen. On easy mode, you only play with green, red and yellow. On medium you play with green, red, yellow, and blue. On hard, green, red, yellow, blue, and orange. And on expert you use the same as you use in hard mode, only there are more notes and the notes flash by faster.
Many famous songs are playable in guitar hero, such as Welcome To The Jungle, Mississippi Queen, sunshine Of Your Love, Before I Forget, Paranoid, Cherub Rock, Holiday In Cambodia, Black Magic Woman, and many others.
If you get the XBOX 360 version or the Wii version, you can go online and download new songs that come out for the game. I'm not sure how it works, though. I only have the game for the PS2.
So, if you want a game that is addicting, gives you a good workout, and will make you a rockstar all while sitting on your couch, get Guitar Hero III!

Great Game

This is a great game with lots of replay value. The song selection was excellent for anyone under the age of 30 (mostly newer songs, unlike past guitar hero games). Battle mode is really fun, but you have to be able to find someone who plays at the same level as you b/c sudden death mode is brutally unequal (thus unfair) if you're playing on hard/expert against someone on medium. The death drain in sudden death drops faster on hard/expert no matter what % you play compared to the other person. Aside from that, the only other complaint I'd have is that the hammer-ons/pull-offs are often in unnecessary places or not where they should be, making a song way more difficult than it should be (see Reptilia). Overall, a great game. Loads of fun and definitely worth the money!

Awesome game, hours and hours of fun. I've beaten the game on Easy and Medium and I'm working on Hard (8 songs in) but is very frustrating for me.....eh....:) The best part of GH III is a lot of the songs are the actual songs from the artists and not the horrible sounding knock off's like in the previous games. Graphics are pretty good on the PS2 and saving progress is a litte slower than the previous games but not too bad. The speed at any difficulty level is much faster than the other GH games which I think makes the songs more realistic. Overal a great game, highly recommend to everyone!

Better than 2

This game is really good and fun to play. The only real problem I encountered was forgetting to blink while I was playing, haha. But seriously the graphics and notes look alot better than the previous game, and the difficulty has been raised up a notch. The final song in this game must be at least twice as hard as the one from number 2. Another problem with the playstation 2 version was being unable to connect to the internet to download new songs to play etc. So I recommend going out to buy this game and play with your friends and rock out with a guitar, or play on the controller, whatever you find funner =)
