Hisense has a new TV in their QD6 line. The 55” QD6 QLED 4K UHD Fire TV. This TV runs the Fire TV OS. It’s the same as a Fire Stick 4K or 4K Max. It’s familiar to me as I have Fire Stick 4K Maxes connected to my other TVs. Navigating the Fire TV OS is very straightforward and it’s easy to find what I’m looking for. Setup It took 15 minutes to set up. I used my phone to associate the TV with my Amazon account. This is an option you get during setup. I applied settings from one of my Fire Stick 4K Max devices. The settings seemed to take. I downloaded apps and updates. This took a while but eventually finished and restarted the TV. It also updated my remote which took less than a minute. The remote is similar to my Fire Stick 4K Max remotes. There is no learning curve with the remote as Amazon/Hisense have simplified it to the point anyone can just pick it up and start using it. The remote updated without issue. It takes longer than expected to update the TV OS. The TV was near my WiFi router, so signal wasn't an issue nor was bandwidth given that I have a 1Gb/s connection. Once it did complete the update, the TV rebooted. The update was successful and no issues were encountered. After setup and applying my settings from my Fire Stick 4k Max, my content was available for me to select and watch. I selected a movie to watch and it streamed as I would expect it to. Apps were available to use such as YouTube, Paramount+, STARZ, etc. as they are on my Fire Stick device. Image Color/Quality Initially, colors weren’t always correct with FHD Movies. It's was a little too saturated at times. Specifically with skin tones. As it turns out, this ended up being corrected. An additional update needed to be applied. After that, it was displaying colors correctly in FHD movies. The upscaling capability of the QD6 is helpful in making FHD movies look much better. 4K UHD movies look really good on it and the colors are as they should be. No complaints at all with the 4K UHD capability of the QD6. The picture is sharp and the colors are vibrant. Sound I think the built-in speakers are reasonable. There is a good range of Bass and Treble to set as well as sound profiles (movie, sports, etc.). I can dial up or down either to my preference. If I want theatre like sound experience, then I go to my sound bar and sub. As with the fire-tick 4k Max, I can wirelessly connect my sound bar and sub to the Fire TV. Final Thoughts I don't have to buy another Fire stick 4k for it which is a plus. That saves me around $40. Also, it's one less thing I have to plug into power and keeps my HDMI ports available for other things. The QD6 UHD 4K Fire TV is a good all around 4K UHD TV. It's light for a TV of this size (55”), clear, sharp, upscales FHD content, and has good vibrant colors. The QD6 Fire TV is a good option from Hisense. I like what they have done with it. It’s much more responsive than my other Hisense TV which shows that Hisense is updating their TVs with faster components. I would recommend the QD6 to anyone who is on a budget and is either already in the Amazon Fire ecosystem or wants to jump into it.

The 2025 Hisense - 55" Class QD6 Series QLED TV is a solid budget-friendly option that offers decent performance for everyday use. The TV provides good picture quality with effective reflection handling and a high native contrast ratio. Equipped with a 60Hz panel and supporting 4K resolution, the TV is adequate for casual gaming. Running on Amazon's Fire TV OS, the Hisense QD6 Series offers easy access to a wide range of apps and streaming services, enhancing the overall user experience. While the Hisense QD6 has positive aspects, there are a few negatives as well. The color can appear darker compared to other TVs. Additionally, the lack of a local dimming feature can affect contrast in scenes containing both bright and dark elements. The TV has a narrow viewing angle, meaning the colors can seem washed out if you're not sitting directly in front of it. It doesn't get very bright, which can be an issue in well-lit rooms as it might struggle to overcome glare. Limited to 4K at 60Hz and lacking advanced gaming features like VRR, it might not satisfy serious gamers. The TV's picture processing is not the best when it comes to upscaling lower-resolution content. Overall, if you're looking for a budget-friendly TV with decent performance for everyday use, the Hisense QD6 Series could be a good choice. Despite some drawbacks, I find it to be a good value for the price, especially for casual viewing and use in darker rooms.
