loud fan. trackpad issues.
||Posted .Owned for 3 months when reviewed.screen is very good. lightweight. its great if you dont work the laptop too hard. if you stress it just a bit (just playing flash on chrome with 3 other tabs open) the LOUD fan comes on. I have the lenovo yoga 13 from 2017 which i thought was loud at the time--ha!- this spectre x360 4k takes the throne. also have been having trackpad issues where the pointer would disappear or "stick". it would resolve by shutting the laptop off and restarting it. its annoying. i would be more mad had i been working on something important. as it is, i dont trust it to be my main work laptop. i have another hp laptop (17 inch, i7, 1080p screen, 500 gb ssd) also from best buy and that one performs way better than this spectre and the fan is quieter and less annoying. regretting this purchase.

Works great for what I need it to do
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This laptop comes with a pen that is fantastic to use when you need to make small marks or write on the screen, but it is hard to store the pen with the laptop. The laptop overheats if you put it on your lap due to where the fans are so I would recommend purchasing a cooling pad to put it on if you're going to have it on your lap, or just keep it on a flat surface. The fingerprint sensor did not work when I originally set up the laptop; I haven't tried to install a driver to make it work yet but I haven't needed it since I just unlock it with the facial recognition. It would be helpful to have the fingerprint scanner if I cared about having the camera off though (there is an option to turn it off by flipping the switch on the side). My biggest reason for getting this laptop is that my old 17" one was so heavy; this one is smaller, lighter, and does all the same things plus more. Only giving it one less star because the fingerprint reader was supposed to work.

Great Light Laptop
||Posted .This laptop is much faster than my old HP (5 years old). It is super lightweight too. I was able to switch from a rolling bag with my old 15" HP to a messenger bag. Granted I carry notebooks, a ton of pens and a planner because I am in college but this makes everything less bulky. I bought the matching mouse which is travel friendly. I only charge the laptop once maybe twice a week when I use it for approximately 20 to 30 hours a week. Updates are super quick. I have used the tablet mode, which is cool. I worried that the screen might be too small for reading the amount of articles I need to daily but it isn't. I used an iPad mini too but wanted something bigger than an iPad but smaller than 15". This was perfect. I was trying to decide between this, a Macbook, and a surface pro. This won out for design, upgrade options, and price for me.

Excellent
||Posted .Hi, I am pleased that I got this particular compact model. Color is beautiful. It was over priced. I got it for some $1400 plus. It has good specs and it boots very fast. I went crazy enought I bought the blue one also! I wanted to gift it to my niece and nephew as they are doing undergrad. I tested certain things and I was happy. Initially there was some fan noise and I was worried that I may have to return it. But then I read one reviewer mentioning to update the Bios. Once I did that, the laptop was quiet, no noice at all. I love the 4K resultion and the light weightedness of the laptop. The ink pen does work good. I am zero in gaming. So I can't say how it performs under heavy gaming or how the battery holds upto it or regarding fan noise. For regular work, it does stand well. Its worth buying but if its price is around 1K, then it would be an unbeatable bargain powerhouse. Hope HP listens! My niece and nephew love it and enjoying it. So, I am happy. BTW, my local Best Buy rep Alex was awesome and I used 10% discount.

Fast and Quiet
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. You can work with this machine in many ways, it maybe lying on your couch or sitting in your desk. At 13.3" screen size, this is much heavier than a tablet of the same screen size. It may strain your arms after holding it in tablet mode for some time. Take note that this machine has only one standard USB port. When I plugged my RF mouse, there were no more ports for my regular USB flash drive. I had to buy a bluetooth mouse to free up this port. This is a next generation machine - it has 2 of the more advanced USB-C ports. Processor and SSD drive are very fast and very quiet, I can't even hear a sound. Facial recognition when signing in is fast even in dim light. I only wished the SSD drive came with a 1024GB option.

A work of art
||Posted .About 5 years ago I would have thought you were crazy if someone told me a company other than Apple would make a laptop that would feel great to hold and look great to look at. But, HP has pulled it off. It's not inexpensive, in fact, if you look at just the specs there are definitely lower priced items that perform just as well from Dell or Lenovo. However, those are just regular windows laptops, this thing is next level sleek. It comes with a stylus and sheath in the box, so that's a nice added bonus. Only downside is the trackpad. I don't know why PC makers just can't get trackpads to be as nice as Apple's..but that's a pretty big deal.

Great work laptop
||Posted .Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. The HP spectre is a nice light laptop with great specs under the hood. It can handle running multiple programs at once smoothly without any lag. The screens 4K resolution makes it great for watching movies. The only complaint I have is that the cursor sometimes lags or gets lost, I believe it has something to do with the touch screen.

Great working!
||Posted .Owned for 3 months when reviewed.I absolutely love this laptop! Great for my drawing and sketching and for programming as well! The only problem i have faced till now is that it shuts down randomly and you have to restart it. But after a lot of research i know that this is a system problem from hp themselves. And it does not occur frequently. Apart from that it is just great! Best purchase ever.

Q: QuestionI was looking into buying this laptop and was wondering when they released it?
Asked by AleC.
- A:Answer This is a current model, released in 2019.
Answered by HP Team
Q: QuestionHow long is the battery life?
Asked by Phanca.
- A:Answer The specs say 12 hrs, but it is a little less (10 hr) with constant minor use like typing or web searching. It is a lot less if streaming movies or YouTube videos. More like 6 hours. It recharges very fast, though. 1/4 charge in 20 min. Full charge in 1 hr. It takes a little more time to charge if using it. This is still the longest battery life I have seen in real world use of a laptop.

Q: QuestionI see that it lists a few different USB ports but I don’t see them on the laptop. Does it have at least 1 traditional USB port that is not the c-type?
Asked by Yare.
- A:Answer Yes, it has one USB 3.0 Type A Port. The rest are USB-C.

Q: QuestionThe specs list several ports (No. of USB 3.0 Type A Ports: 1; No. of USB 3.1 Type C Ports: 4; No. of Thunderbolt 3 Ports: 2 = 7 total), but I can only see 1 USB 3.0 Type A & two that look like USB-C. Where are the others?
Asked by PM.
- A:Answer According to HP, these are the ports on this laptop: 1 headphone/microphone combo; 2 Thunderbolt 3 (Data transfer up to 40 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge); 1 USB 3.1 Gen 2 (HP Sleep and Charge); and 2 USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2. Q: QuestionDoes this laptop have the one-touch button privacy screen?
Asked by KROERT.
- A:Answer No, it does not. There are other configurations that do, but the configuration with the 4K screen does not. I actually bought the HP Spectre with the integrated privacy screen before I purchased the HP Spectre with 4K from Best Buy. I returned that laptop because the screen seemed oddly dim at the highest resolution that it came with the privacy screen which was 1920 x 1080. According to a program that I was running, the resolution didn't even reach 1920 x 1080, and that was without the privacy screen even being turned on. I called HP and I was told that the privacy screen, whether on or off, could inhibit the resolution to be as good as it should. Then he said I should probably get a different one with a higher resolution if it didn't reach my standards. So I returned it and got the one with 4K from Best buy. Best technological decision I've ever made. I freaking love this laptop.
