Q: Can these be connected directly to a turntable without the need of a receiver?
A: If this is an older turntable, you will probably need a phono pre-amp which you would need to have anyway to connect the turntable to one of today's receivers. In the "old" days, receivers had a phono input which had this pre-amp built into it. Cassette decks and CD players do not need these additional pre-amps. I am using one of these devices to get my 1980's Sony turntable to work with a newer receiver I bought a few years ago. The pre-amp is not that expensive and can be found on the radio shack website, and probably on Best Buy's as well. Once you have the pre-amp, it ought enable the turntable to work with the Knomo speakers since the Knomo speakers have an internal amplifier. Good Luck!

A: Rc33, As long as your TV has compatible audio outputs, 3.5mm, then you will be able to connect YU2's to your computer.

very good , love it , thanks ,best buy!
The speakers came with a 3.5 cable jack to hook up directly into a laptop/pc. Has a USB connection as well but not sure if the sound would be better through it or not. If not, I will stick with the 3.5 as it has a smaller footprint overall. Very happy with this purchase. Won't find a better set of 2.0 desktop speakers at this price.

Better computer speakers
Very sound quality. Though, I will want to buy the separate woofer when I can afford it. Missing lower mids and bass. Very clean uppers and mids! Been into playing and recording music for two decades and these are pro level.

Great Sound in a Small Profile
I purchased the matte black pair and they look terrific. I use the USB connection to my laptop and have them on my desk at home. The sound is wonderful. It is clear with no vibration and they fit perfectly on the desk. Did not like they came with cords that are bright white. The cords look goofy connected to black speakers but everything is shows great quality.
