A: Hi there. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand your inquiry regarding the M5 Wireless Speakers and their compatibility with your LG 77 G5 TV and existing soundbar. Based on the specifications, the M5 speakers feature Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, which is designed to pair wirelessly with compatible LG TVs to work in harmony with the TV's built-in speakers. However, the TV is generally not able to output audio to a separate external Soundbar (via HDMI/Optical) and the M5 Wireless speakers simultaneously. You would typically need to choose between using your Soundbar setup or the M5 speakers via FlexConnect for your audio experience. This pair of LG Sound Suite M5 speakers are an absolute treat for my LG C5 65” TV. These speakers are very unique in that when paired with a compatible LG TV, you can utilize Dolby Atmos Flex Connect (DAFC) directly through the TV’s software, independently of the Sound Suite H7 soundbar. DAFC analyzes your room and then dynamically assigns roles to each speaker to create a Dolby Atmos layout. In other words, moving the M5 speakers behind you will make them function as true rear speakers. Move them to the front and it’ll recalibrate and widen the front soundstage. The TV speakers function as the center channel if you are running this setup without the soundbar. You can also run these in stereo mode, which makes them just all around great WiFi or Bluetooth speakers. The sound quality on these is absolutely incredible. They are technically considered 1.1.1 speakers, and the onboard sub produces an amazing low end. They legitimately sound like you have a small independent subwoofer in the setup, and if you add the H7 soundbar then you are really in for an experience. I have this setup in my master bedroom and I’m honestly not sure if I’ll pursue the independent sub when it’s released, simply because of how good this setup already sounds. Setup can be a bit tricky to figure out, especially if you are trying to use the app without the soundbar in the mix. If you are connecting these to the H7 soundbar, then the app is the way to go. If you have a compatible LG TV and want to utilize DAFC directly through the TV, you’ll need to go into your TV sound settings, look for External with TV Speaker, and then select the Dolby Atmos Flex Connect option. The real selling point of these speakers and DAFC is how modular the whole system is. You can start with just a pair of M5 speakers and later add the soundbar or expand further. Since DAFC adapts to your room, you can use your speakers in different configurations, just remember you need two M5 speakers to run DAFC properly. I’ll be honest, if I had to choose between a pair of M5 speakers and the H7 soundbar, I would go with the pair of speakers all day. Please don’t get me wrong, because the soundbar is a work of art, but having the pair of M5s and using the TVs speakers as a center gives a better surround experience and surprisingly strong bass on their own. My one gripe, and the same is true for the H7, is that you can only select four colors for the LED in active mode inside of the app. These speakers could clearly support more, it’s simply an app limitation, and stuff like that tends to bother me more than it should. All in all, this pair of speakers absolutely blows me away, and the fact that you can run DAFC with a compatible LG TV and bypass the soundbar is simply amazing. I’ve had some of the best soundbars and combos over the years, and this is without a doubt the best setup I’ve ever had. For reference, I’m running two M5s with the H7 soundbar on my LG C5 65” TV.

We have two of these paired with a H7 soundbar, all part of the LG Sound Suite. On their own, they sound great, but lack a bit of bass. We could go a bit larger and get the M7s, but for us, they’re the perfect size - any larger and I’d feel they’d be a bit too large for where we like to place them. Of course, the brilliance of these is their support for Dolby Atmos FlexConnect - allowing you to place them just about anywhere and use them for immersive movies paired with your TV, or music. Inside, speakers are positioned well, with an upward firing driver that really does help direct sound and add to immersion in a space. Self-calibration and wireless playback means it’s very easy to place these. You just need to plug them in and it’s a simple process to pair them from LG’s ThinQ app. Design-wise, they are classy and understated. They have a clean look with fabric covered screens and a metal, perforated top. A few controls along the top help these work as spacial speakers for music, something akin to most other whole-home speaker setups. When paired with our H7 soundbar, these M5’s challenge our traditional 5.1 setup for quality of depth and immersion. LG also offers the W7 sub, which we may add for maximum flexibility in our living room as these FlexConnect enabled speakers allow for a much cleaner look. No more giant receiver, no more audio cables and difficult placement of rear speakers. We were able to place one M5 to the side and one behind and still managed to get amazingly immersive, balanced sound. Dolby Atmos’s FlexConnect really feels like the future of home audio, especially for TVs. It’s just very flexible, allowing unusual speaker placement and more or less speakers than you typically can do with traditional setups. The slight downside here is that you’ll be buying into a somewhat LG-specific system, but I feel the sound quality as part of a living room setup is worth it at the end of the day. __ Overall __ These are slightly larger than expected, but I’m happy to have chosen these over the M7s for our space. The M5 is a little smaller, but perfect for filling out our system that includes the H7 soundbar. On their own, they lack bass a bit, but sound quality is good, as is build quality. I’m just slightly more careful not to get their fabric screens dirty. I’d recommend them to anyone hoping to utilize FlexConnect specifically... and especially if paired to an H7 soundbar - which I consider the hero of LG’s Sound Suite speakers.

Amazing set of speakers. Each one is basically a 3 in 1. They have a front and up firing speakers and integrated woofer. The have the newest Dolby Atmos flex connect feature, that you can use to connect them wirelessly and in any place, they don't have to be either just front or rears, place then anywhere and they will be tunned accordingly. The first and main feature, is if you own one of the newest LG Oled TV series 5 (I have a C5), you can add them to the TV via this system (my TV got a firmware update for this, just FYI), and the TV will work as a center speaker and these can be used as additional speakers, i.e like rear surrounds. I did test that and works good, however since I have also the H7 soundbar that works with these, I ended up pairing them with it. The soundbar does its tunes and configures them correctly to where you place them. I did put them on the rear. And each speaker, like I mentioned are basically a 1.1.1 system. They fire to the front, and up (so the sound bounces on the ceiling and hits you as if you had real height speakers) and they also have an included woofer, and this was great, I was thinking I was going to have to buy their woofer to add it (they have one you can add), but it the bass was great enough and great for me. What surprised the most, is the height channels sounds, were great and distinctive, they usually recommend for best performance a flat ceiling, and unfortunately mine is slanted, but with its auto tunning with Dolby flex connect, it was great and I was amazed! With Dolby flex connect you can add more if you want, so I'm planning on getting another pair and put them on the side, instead of a woofer (plenty of bass as it is). Amazing solution from LG that lets you flexible upgrade your sound system and easily tune it!!!
