Snagged for a fantastic deal recently at Best Buy Dallas GA store for just under $700 ish after tax. I wanted to upgrade the crappy stock unit in my 2019 Tacoma. I couldn’t believe the value for the cost.
It took time to learn but after doing so is 100% worth it. BEWARE though your vehicle MUST have compatible Maestro software to work “properly” with this unit. By properly I mean steering wheel controls for radio, apple play or android, rear view cam, pretty much anything extra you want it to do besides music requires Maestro as stated on box. Most good audio shops can re install Maestro into your vehicle if a previous owner has removed it, for between $200-$400 depending on shop prices near you. I found out the hard way unfortunately my previous trucks owner was dumb enough to do this. However with all of this being said I have digital gauges available on the unit, real time intake, engine, and oil temp, fuel consumption, engine load, and the ability to access tuning software if I so choose to add it. It’s truly an all in one unit that made my 2 kicker 10s and all kicker door speakers sound sooooo much better, and I already have 1000w powering them. But this unit can allow you to fine tune every aspect of your car audio experience. Audiophile recommended 9 out of 10 IMO.

I installed the JVC KW-Z1000W in my 2013 Ford Super Duty (crew cab) and it transformed the cabin. The 10.1" floating HD display is bright and crisp, and being able to fine-tune the angle/position keeps it perfectly visible without blocking anything. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect fast and stay stable.
My favorite part is the gesture controls: a circular motion for volume and quick swipes to change tracks. It feels natural and keeps my eyes on the road. The unit is also packed with useful extras like HDMI, four camera inputs (great for front/rear and blind-spot cams), Bluetooth, and a 13-band EQ.
Bottom line: this is a top-tier head unit at a very good price for what it offers. If you want a modern, tablet-like experience with practical hand-gesture controls, this JVC is hard to beat.

Incredible unit. I first installed the Jensen Car1000 and started having issues with it freezing up and crashing constantly, so I returned it and decided to splurge on this JVC instead. There were features missing on the Jensen that I had in my old vehicle that I missed. Top among them were wireless android auto (vs wired), hd radio, satellite radio, and an hdmi input. This JVC also has a much higher resolution screen. I love the fact that the screen has some tilt adjustment available after installation. Android auto wireless works great, though setting it up on the unit wasn't as intuitive as other units i've tried. Just mess with it a bit and you'll figure it out. While I prefer a volume knob, (like this unit's sister unit under the Kenwood brand) I do appreciate the large volume up and down buttons. My previous pioneer had tiny volume buttons. Also, I was able to retain my steering wheel controls using only a PAC adapter. That was a much cheaper optoin to retain steering wheel controls vs the idatalink maestro setup that would have cost an extra 250 dollars. I don't get all the fancy vehicle info, but all I wanted to was steering wheel controls. So look in to that cheaper option if you're curious. May not work on newer vehicles though (I drive a 2010 F250 Lariat). I did have an issue with the hdmi input not working at first, while trying to use a 4k hdmi cable. I swapped out that cable for an older hdmi cable, not 4k, and now it works. So if you're having that issue, try and older hdmi cable. They're supposed to be completely backwards compatible, but obviously not with this unit. Also, don't forget to add the little black trim piece or the screen won't turn on! All in all, this thing is responsive, has the best screen available right now in car stereos, and has all the features you could ever want. I absolutely love it despite the pretty ridiculous cost.

Cool Unit, Be Prepared for Installation Journey

We've had the installed unit for a few weeks in our 2019 Subaru Outback. It is as promised, easy to use, clear graphics, and connects seamlessly to our iPhones. Some things to be prepared for. I recommend getting a parts list from Best Buy installation department. I ended up needing to buy some things through Best Buy and then some things through Amazon in order to find them in stock. The exact part numbers were necessary in order to get the right part. It is not enough to know the title of what it is. Also, the DDIN comes in different colors (with different part numbers), so make sure you get the right one for your car type. We had to send one back and get the right color. The finished product is not flush with the Subaru Outback. I don't know if it is flush with any car. You will see how it sits "floating" above the other parts of the dash. It is slightly adjustable from the floating position and allows you to adjust it for reflection or to see the other parts of your dash. It was true for our car that the component pieces behind the unit were too large to fit completely in the space. Therefore, it took up some of the compartment space below the unit. This made the compartment mostly not usable because the door stays closed. Also, Best Buy had to install a separate USB port that dangles in the passenger foot area (not intrusive), because the in-dash USB was rendered unusable with the way the installation needed to go. There is also a tethered/dangling mic up by the driver side visor and mirror. Know that the back-up camera will not have the lines that comes with the factory installed camera. That said, the image is clear. The additional parts were around $400. The installation was not additional because we bought it through Best Buy. The installation took about 3.5 hours. I would not recommend trying to install on your own, unless you really do have tools and a talent for electronics. There is a lot to know to make sure that the steering controls, camera controls, back and front connections are all installed correctly.

I’ve owned both JVC and KENWOOD stereos over the last 10 years and finally decided to go with the 10 inch display JVC for my Tacoma. I like the size and features. Split screen shows up well, sound quality better then older units and can tilt screen depending on glare. Would purchase again.

Installed this in my FJ Cruiser and it has completely modernized the vehicle. The fit and finish of the unit is amazing. Sound quality is great and the EQ has blown me away with the level of customization available.
Wireless Apple CarPlay works wonderful and fully integrates with my vehicle using an iDatalink Maestro box.
For those comparing this against JVC's sister brand Kenwood - this essentially is exactly the same as the Kenwood Excelon but with much more fun and colorful background and display features. I particularly love the VU meters and the light bar under the bottom that lights up my center console.
100% recommend, it's a stunning piece of equipment!

This head unit is absolutely incredible. First, the screen is as clear as the latest Iphone and glare of the sun doesn't effect it. It has Android auto and car play and the best thing about it is that is all wireless. It shows you if you have a check engine light, tire pressure and tire temperature. You can wireless mirror screen! It has an hdmi port which I have connected a firestick. This is by far way more than I expected. I recommend this head unit and it is definitely worth the price. I had it for over a year and had no problems with it. Treat yourself for Christmas you will not be disappointed.

Best buy open box did not disappoint. Great buy. Great head unit. Keep in mind you need a datalink maestro rr2 and harnesses from crutchfield. They ran me 360$ for the whole installation kit. It was worth the extra features like tire pressure, rpm, 0-60, ft needed to stop etc, also reads codes, and many more. Great sound improvement over the factory head unit.
A:AnswerMy 2013 Honda Civic only has 4 speakers. The factory speakers definitely sound better now then with the factory stereo. That being said I plan to add aftermarket speakers and AMP. I don't think it will be sufficient for the Subwoofer in particular. As for the steering wheel controls I used a Idatalink Mistro RR2 but I bought it from a place in Montana since they were not available due to chip shortage and my controls work great. Not sure why but my backup camera still displays on the dash instead of the monitor but I need Best buy installers to see why next time I'm in Albuquerque,NM
