Great massager for older people
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set-up was kind of confusing. When you first turn on the Lyric Massager, it will create a Lyric Hotspot. You then connect your phone to the Lyric Hotspot. But you need to make sure you also turn off your phone’s mobile data before connecting your phone’s wifi to the Lyric Hotspot or you will run into problems. Once you connect your phone to the Lyric Hotspot, the Lyric will display a QR Code and you use your phone to scan it. This will basically take your phone to the URL 192.168.4.1. Instead of scanning the QR Code, you can just manually enter the URL into your phone’s browser. The problem is that if you do not turn off the phone’s mobile data, your phone will try to connect to 192.168.4.1 using the mobile data network and it will fail. Once you turn off your phone’s mobile data, your phone will be able to connect to the Lyric at that address. Then the Lyric will present instructions on your phone to configure the Lyric to use your home wifi. From there your Lyric will be able to download the latest firmware and update itself. During the setup process, there were also some conflicting messages displayed. I received messages telling me to reconnect to the Lyric wifi and to configure the wifi of the Lyric even though it had already successfully configured itself to use my home network. Once things were set up, the Lyric was easy to understand and use. The package includes the massager, a charging dock with massage head attachment tray, 4 massage attachments, extension handle for harder to reach places, and a USB charging cable. The 4 massage attachments are Cone (for sensitive areas and acupressure treatments) Dome (for larger areas of the body) Thumb (for trigger points and deeper tissue penetration) Double (for targeting both muscle and tissue) Operation is simple. There is a trigger button to turn on the massager. Holding down the trigger button for 10 seconds turns it off. The touch screen provides a menu of therapies (Pain Relief, Calm, Energy, and Rest) that allow you to have the massager guild your actions or you can choose to bypass this and just use the massager manually. I got this for my 82 year old mother who has an autoimmune disorder that causes her muscles and tendons to frequently feel “tight” and “sore”. When I take her shopping and she is walking slower than usual, I know that it’s because her legs were feeling “tight” that day. I constantly see her massaging/squeezing her arms and shoulders because they feel sore and I wondered if the Lyric Massager would be good for someone like her. So far, my mom loves the Lyric Massager! It’s not too heavy and the smaller size and form factor makes it easy for her to hold and use. My mom is not tech savvy but she is able to use the touchscreen to select massage therapies after I showed her how it works. The day after she used it for the first time she told me that her legs feel better than usual and her walking pace was noticeably quicker than usual. Based on our brief experience, it really does seem the Lyric Massager can reduce soreness and tightness. And it feels good while using it. My mom immediately loved it and I see that she frequently uses it. It’s one of the few gifts that I’ve given her that she seems to enjoy and use.

EXACTLY What I Was Looking For!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Lyric Massager Stone is EXACTLY what I was looking for! In my old age everything has started to hurt and it hurts double when I’m trying to still stay active. I’ve gotten weak massagers that barely do anything, to ones that will rattle your teeth out of your head. The Lyric is right in the sweet spot. It gives you tons of control over where and how much pressure you use. Once the Lyric team puts the final touches on their App and release it to the world, this is probably going to be THE handheld massager to own. What I Like: 1. Compact: I love that the device itself is nicely compact and yet stylish. The fact that it rests on its cradle, which also stores the other massage heads and charges it, make it perfect for just about anyone. The Lyric also comes with an extension handle that gives you extra reach for your back and other spots that may not be readily accessible. I haven’t had to use it much because, for me, the Lyric is the perfect size, shape, and weight for me to hit pretty much anywhere I need to hit. 2. Variable Power: Many of us have tried those ‘massage’ wraps from what used to be the gadget store in the mall, and they always underwhelmed (at least they did for me). I have also gotten some of the newer massagers that are really designed for serious athletes and professionals. Those ones probably do wonders in the hands of a pro but for everyday guys like me, even the lowest setting feels like I’m being beat upon and then I’ll hit a bone and shake myself silly. The Lyric Massage Stone gives you a very useful range of power. On top of that, they also use scientifically developed patterns and points that allow you to get additional benefits beyond just kneading your aching muscles. The Lyric has several built-in routines for whatever your need might be that day. Everything from energizing your muscles to get ready to relaxing to wind you down. They all hit the same parts but use different wavelengths and amplitude to maximize the power of the massage. I can’t wait for the App to roll out and expand on what is already a very useful suite of massages. 3. Multiple Massager Tips: I have stuck with the default tip since I have gotten the Lyric and it has been perfect. I know I will be able to maximize the power of the Lyric with the other tips that are included: a two-pronged tip, a smaller smooth tip, and a larger smooth tip. That is in addition to the textured tip that is a bit like a golf ball in texture. Again, as soon as that App comes out and can tell me how to best use those different tips, I know that the Lyric will become a godsend to my aching body. 4. Price: I’m assuming that if you are looking at this you have seen how expensive these things can be, at least the good ones that is. The fact that this is ‘only’ $200 is amazing. I realize that that is a lot of money for most people to spend on a self-care item, but considering that is the price of 2-3 professional 1-hour massages, I consider it a bargain. I’ve had the Lyric for several weeks now and I already feel like I have gotten $200 of value out of it, so I’m very happy with the price. What I Don’t Like: 1. App Availability: That the App still isn’t out a month after this came out is pretty silly. It should not have hit stores without it. While the Lyric itself can guide you through a few routines, I would prefer to have an App that can go a bit more in-depth into guided massage routines. Even the website lacks any guided routines while we wait. 2. Extension Handle Connection: While the handle extension is nice, light, and easy to use, it is also not incredibly secure. They found a nice way for it to slot onto the base of the Lyric that doesn’t mar the aesthetics of the device, but it also doesn’t secure it very well, especially when you are using it to press firmly on your back and it is vibrating pretty strongly. I haven’t had the Lyric come off of the extension handle yet, but it has come close. Like I said above, I have not really needed to use it much, but I’m hesitant to use it more because I’m afraid of they Lyric coming detached and crashing to the floor. Some kind of locking mechanism would be helpful. Conclusion: All-in-all I am super happy with the Lyric Massager! I have already convinced one of my wife’s friends to go get one after I let her use it just one time after we all went for a rather tough hike. Once the App hits the street and truly unlocks the potential of this device, it will hands-down be THE self-care device to get for yourself or a loved one. I’m sorry if I’m gushing a bit too much, but it really has improved my quality of life. I feel better than I have in a long time and the only thing that has changed is using the Lyric.

Powerful Massager
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a member of Best Buy’s Technical Insider Network, TIN for short. Reviewers in this invitation-only program are provided products for the purpose of writing honest, unbiased reviews. Lyric’s phone app and full user’s manual was not available at time of this review. Initial Impressions: This is a powerful massager. I have owned multiple massagers over the years that were one trick ponies. In short, they were all vibrating objects of various shapes and sizes whose goal was to magically relax sore muscles. At most, they made my voice all cool sounding when applied to my chest. Otherwise, they were all worthless. The Lyric is something different. The head oscillates like in a steady back and forth pattern instead of the random omni-directional vibrating heads of other motorized massagers. The oscillating head is very powerful. It comes with tips that will allow you to customize how best to target your sore spots and muscle groups. There is a handle that attaches to and extends the reach of the Lyric. The LCD touch screen is large, easy to read, and is easy to navigate. There are not lot of screens so it should not take long to try out all the features. My first use of the Lyric was a bit of an adventure. Eh, it did not work out so well. I was not expecting the oscillations to be so powerful. In the end failed to respect how powerful of the massager this is and ended up bruising my shoulder. It took a few attempts to figure out how best to hold it, where to place the massager tip, which tick to use, and how much pressure to apply to my body part so the massager would massage and not punch me at high speed. My recommendation is that you practice this on the setting “Level” at level 1 speed using the soft tip until you have a good idea how to handle your Lyric. My outcomes became much better after a little experience with how to hold the unit, placement, and working with the pre-programmed therapies. Setup: Setup is straight forward. Turn on your phone, turn on the Lyric, follow the Lyric’s onscreen instructions. If you reset the Lyric, then you will be walked through the Wi-Fi setup again and again and again. Why is it so easy to reset the Lyric. The UI developers at Lyric decided to include the Rest button as one of the four guided massage options. In my opinion, the rest button should have been one of the last screens you can swipe to on the top-level menu screens. The Lyric has two charging options. You can plug the USB cable directly into the handle or you can charge the Lyric via the included charging base. Both methods use the same USB A/B to USB C cable. The base also houses three of the of four massager heads. The default Dome head is designed to be stored attached to the Lyric. In my opinion, this is a compact and efficient design. The extension handle has a smooth rubberized like coating. The extension handle slides into bottom of the Lyric and is held in place by a rubberized compression seal. The connection has a slight wobble which may lead you to believe the Lyric will just fall off the extension handle. It won’t. The fit is very tight. I had the lyric upside down massaging my back while I held the extension handle over my shoulder. It also took a good tug using both hands to separate the handle from the massager. Power: As mentioned earlier, this is a powerful massager. You will hurt yourself if you do not treat the Lyric, or your body, with respect. There are three guided massage settings: Pain Relief, Calm, and Energy. These are pre-programmed therapies that target specific pressure points on your body. The massage head vibrates for about 20 seconds at each pressure point. The power to the massage head may start slow, ramp up to fast, and then slow again but with more powerful hits than when the session began. For example, one of the pressure points is the back of my hand just under my thumb. It took a few practices tries to find the correct position for my hand so that the Lyric would not simply punch me in the back of the hand. Placing my hand on a table caused the Lyric to punch the palm of hand on the table. For me, the best position was to hold my hand in the air and apply pressure to the massager heard with the back of my hand. Attachments: From Lyric’s website. The four attachments are as follows: Cone: Intended for more sensitive areas and for acupressure treatments. Dome: Recommended for larger areas of the body. Thumb: Can be applied to trigger points or used for deeper tissue penetration. Double: This two-pronged design enables a “double tap” to target both muscle and tissue. I need specific directions on how and when to use the Double. The Cone and Dome are the two I use the most. The Cone comes to a point but is softer than the other attachments. I use this mostly for targeting specific sore spots or areas where I feel the other attachments are too hard. The Dome is broad and covers a wide area. This is the default attachment. This is good when moving the Lyric over a large muscle or area of your body. However, you still need to be careful because if you use this incorrectly it turns into a giant battering ram for a muscle or joint. I used the Thumb a few times. Mostly on some stubborn knots in the arch of my foot. As much as I wanted to punish the nasty little knot, I found that the Cone was a better fit. Otherwise, I did not find a good use for the Thumb. Guided therapy: There are three guided therapies: Pain Relief, Calm, and Energy. Maybe there will be more when Lyric launches its app. There is little introduction or instruction for these therapies. The touch screen LCD will walk you through the placements of the massager head for each one of these therapies. I recommend that you start with the default Dome massager head until you get more comfortable with each therapy. If you find the Dome still too hard then go with the Cone. The Cone is the most forgiving of the four heads. For example, the Pain Relief Therapy is a three-minute therapy consisting of eight twenty second sessions: massage of right/left inside thumb, right/left inside pinky, traps (top of shoulder), and right/left inside ankle. The LCD will give you an image of your right hand, palm side down, with a dot where the massage head should rest. The guide will show a graphic of the next massage point when it finishes with the previous one. Text on the screen will also state what the point is. You have three seconds to place the massage head between massage points. This will take some practice to get right. It took me a few tries to figure out exactly how to massage the inside of my thumbs before I got it right. First time the Lyric punched my hand. The second time I had better results. The third time I rested my hand palm down on a table. That was a very bad idea because the Lyric simply punched the palm of my hand into the table. This is an area where better instruction would be very helpful. As mentioned earlier, the best position for me was holding my hand in the air. The LCD is very sensitive. If you touch the LCD screen with any part of your hand while transitioning to another part of your body the massager pauses. This is not a big deal with the guided therapy. It could be a very big deal when engaging in a mode called Level. This is essentially free hand mode. Using the trigger button, you can set the intensity level from 1 to 4. Four being the most powerful, fastest oscillation. This is not an issue if I am using the extension to reach hard to reach places. However, if I am targeting an easy to reach muscle group, such as my hip, then it is very likely I will brush the LCD screen and pause my massage session. In these instances, I had to put fabric between the LCD touch screen and my hand to prevent any interruption in the massage session. I am not sure if there is a software solution here. At least I can solve the problem using other methods. Final thoughts: If you are ready to give up on the vibrating massagers and ready for something a little more targeted, then you might like the Lyric. It has a very powerful motor, multiple tips, and an extension arm that allows you to massage those hard-to-reach places. The batter lasts a good long time. Charging is easy. And the multiple tips cover a variety of applications. I cannot stress enough how much this can hurt you if you do not respect it. Be smart and you will get a lot of great use out of the Lyric.

Great tool, but be careful unsupervised
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been a lifesaver. I've had an injured shoulder area for a couple years ago and at one point i was in PT and they were basically using a crazy fancy version of the Lyric, not that the Lyric itself isn't fancy. It is. The ability to download more programs for massage is excellent. Its easy to use and there's a lot you can do on it There are 4 different heads that allow you to do different massages or target specific points. They quick change and are very effective. They have a high quality, rubber feel. the unit itself is quite solid and easy to hold. There's also an extension for those hard to reach places you can plug in the base and wirelessly charge the device, or you can plug into the device itself. Personally i recommend plugging into the device, especially if you're going out or overnight. When i put the massager into the cradle to wirelessly charge, the base got very hot. Almost uncomfortably. it did not seem safe. not sure if my base has an issue, i'll have to talk to customer support. i had lent it to a friend for a week that recently had a child and they loved it. helped them feel much better since its so good at targeting sore spots all in all, a must need if you're active or just prone to being sore or want to relax

Looks Great, Massages Even Better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Addaday Lyric Therapeutic Massager is not your typical hand held massage device. What makes the Lyric standout from the crowd is its “Rhythmic Therapy” approach to healing the body. To calm tense areas or muscles the Lyric implements special intensity levels with programs via Wifi. Yes, Wifi! The “Rhythmic Therapy” decreases/increases the head speed in smooth comfortable way. • The Lyric Massager is a compact massaging device that comes in a charging cradle or direct plug-in with a USB Type C to USB Type A port. To keep the battery power up and use of the Lyric device charge longer, you should not let the power level go lower than half way. The Lyric device feels solid, powerful and well balanced in your hand. It has a rubber like feel to keep it firmly in your grip. It also includes a “Touch Screen” that you can use to provide the type and kind of massage you want. To get your options, touch the trigger on the underside of the Lyric. Once on, the options are there on the touch screen, you can swipe or touch an icon to reach your destination. • Cleverly hidden underneath the charging cradle are four attachments that you can use to achieve maximum relief: Thumb, Dome, Cone and Double Cone. To place the Lyric massager in the cradle you have to put on the Double Cone. This setup provides a small footprint and keeps the attachments all together. It is also worth noting the Lyric comes in several unique colors including: Off-White, Black, Grey-Blue, Light Blue and Orange. • The first thing you will want to do is hookup your Wifi to the Lyric device on your network along with your cellphone. To do this, follow the prompts on your “Touch Screen.” Included with the Lyric is a small poster sized sheet with the full 6 steps of directions to connect everything together. It is a process, that may seem intimidating at first, but once you get started it becomes easier and clearer to understand. I got prompts from the “Touch Screen” to begin and end the process. I was able to connect the very first time I tried. This connection allowed me to update the firmware right away. Why is this important? It automatically sends different programs to your Lyric Massager and will update when more become available. A helpful app for your cellphone is coming soon for an even better experience. • The Lyric Massager is much different than I expected, in a good way. Once removed from the charging cradle I pushed the trigger on the underside of the Lyric that activated the “Touch Screen.” The touch screen is a great size and is easy see and select options. Four options pop-up right away: pain relief, calm, energy and rest. Before you start using the Lyric, be sure to check your battery life. Swipe right to left (twice) to see info, settings and any updates. The Info icon will tell you how the actual battery life left on the Lyric in case you need to charge it. Additionally, the Settings icons will let you choose: language, reset, Wifi and sound. To go back one screen, click the trigger. If you only swipe from right to left once, you can get what a regular massage device does. There are 4 options of consistent intensity that you can use to provide your body relief. • The actual massage that the Lyric provides is where it shines. It speeds up and slows down at different intervals to provide the most effective massage. Each manual option has three settings: position 1, 2 and 3. The higher the number, the greater the intensity and rest. Once I selected the manual option for “pain relief” and touched the trigger three times, I was able to get the most intense part of the Lyric massage. Of course there was position 1 or 2, if I wanted to go at a slower intensity. On the touch screen is a circle that is thicker on some parts and thinner on other parts. The most intense part is the thicker line on the circle while the thinner line is more of a rest. Why is this important? The different sets of speeds that go from the Lyric through the attachment to your body are based on “Rhythmic Therapy.” This kind of massage gets in sync to your body’s natural rhythm and is supposed to help calm your muscles and help heal the body. I suffer from mild plantar fasciitis. During the morning, walks or runs it can become quite painful. Using the manual pain relief mode, I was able to get some reprieve from the pain. While the plantar fasciitis issue is still there at the moment, the Lyric Massager did a great job and over time to give me more relief. • I eventually selected all four types of massage settings, but I prefer the “pain relief” option. Once I touched the icon, I was able to choose between programs or use it manually. When I chose the program, exact spots on the body were highlighted. From there I followed the program and kept it still just resting on the spot highlighted. Each program runs about 3 mins. If you need to stop a program, just hold the trigger. I also chose the manual option for unlimited time and was able to move the Lyric around any position I wanted on my back, neck, shoulders, hamstrings, etc. I have benefited from the Lyric massager by using it to just getting warmed up for a walk and/or muscle recovery. The “Rhythmic Therapy” process is comfortable and is smooth when transitioning from different intensities. I have felt better after every use, especially the sore/trouble spots. The Addaday Lyric Massager is inventive, smart and provides a unique approach for healing for the body.
