Excellent apple product with affordable price.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5This is is really a compact desktop. I have a Mac Pro as well and this Mini desktop machine is no less than a Pro. Price is very good for a mac computer. I used it mostly for personal work, this worked fantastic. Just make sure to buy all other accessories, as this comes with only cpu machine and not even a monitor.

One giant leap!
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Love it, even though I bought the lowest model (8GB RAM) I am pleased!!! I hope that the next generation they will probably have more cores on the CPU that I will be saying other branded chips who? What a splash the m1 chip made and this the lowest models are only a first stepping stone. For much bigger things to come.

Mac M1 lags a lot
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality2 out of 5Value2 out of 5Ease of Use1 out of 5The new Mac Mini M1 don’t come with more than 8 gigabytes of ram. So if your into video editing, music creation, using dj apps and visual effects this is not for you. It lags so much and you will frequently see the beach ball of death. Works great with watching videos , web browsing or other apps that uses less memory. It has connectivity issues even with the apple magic mouse and keyboard.

Greatest value of the M1 series
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5This is the first Apple product that I’ve ever felt as “good value” in my 9 years long using several Apple products. Before buying this, I was wondering MacBook Air instead of a third MacBook Pro. I thought MBA M1 is almost as good as MBP M1 with a few hundreds less. However, a little wondering about the fanless MacBook. I used to have a Windows fanless laptop before, it was horrible. So, I’m a little wondering if it’s worth trying MacBook M1 series. Then, I saw Mac Mini. Yes, the first Apple device without screen I have ever bought from Apple. Didn’t set any high hopes, but it really impressed me. It’s NOT FANLESS, Mac Mini does have fan. But, the fan is very quiet and the device’s temperature is always cool. Also, for anyone has ever connect your MacBook with an external monitor before, you’ll know how hot your MacBook can be (boosting or fan running more frequent). I found out my 13” i7 MBP always perform worse whenever I connect to a monitor. Mac Mini is different, it performs much better compare to Intel MBP for 1-2 monitors at the same time. Reading about previous versions of Mac Mini, this line of Apple product will last very long. Compare to pay couple thousands dollars for MBP, I guess this is much cheaper both in value and performance.

FAST, quiet, small, and powerful!!
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5It's already 'old news' just how amazing the M1 Mac mini is! I'm not a gamer, nor, a 'heavy user' (multi-tasking memory-hungry programs with dual monitors, etc.), so, the base model has way more than enough memory and RAM for my needs. I will be adding an external 1TB SSD for storage going forward but that will cost a lot less than spending hundreds more on the larger memory versions. I do some basic video editing, research browsing, Youtube and movie watching (not at the same time), so I am not taxing this unit in the least! It is FAST, absolutely quiet, and small, and has handled everything that I have thrown at it respondeding 'without a hiccup'. I did experience the well-documented Bluetooth connectivity problems with my Apple Magic Mouse that many users have experienced (where the Bluetooth signal randomly drops out, which has been associated with the previous Mac mini series, as well), so, I paired my Logitek MX Master 3 mouse and have not had one connectivity problem. No lag, fully responsive. I did pick up an inexpensive wired mouse and keyboard - if I should need it - but, so far, after nearly a full month of daily use, I haven't had any connectivity issues other than the one time with the Apple Mouse. I pair an Apple Magic Keyboard and have had no signal drop-out issues. I use a Vizio 42.5" 4K TV (Thanks, Best Buy!) as my display/monitor and connect through HDMI because I found that the images, text, and visuals are the best (more 'clear', sharp, and with better color) using a good quality cable, even though I could connect wirelessly. It all just 'works'!! If you are an active, advanced gamer, a video editor running demanding software programs, or, are a very active online content creator/professional graphic artist and can afford to spend $200 more for the 16GB version, according to the experts, that would be a positive investment. But, even the tech gurus who tested this 8GB-256GB base model (expecting to be disappointed by its performance, looking to discredit Apple's benchmark test claims) couldn't beat this M1 Mac mini until they tested it against fully spec-ed out, $5,000-$10,000 systems and were blown away by how well the M1 did (often substantially out-performing the fully spec-ed out machines in a few areas of comparison - but ONLY a few!). They (the testers) only suggested upgrading if you felt that you were going to be - or, already are - a very heavy tech resource-user, needing the extra speed and storage that additional RAM and GBs may provide. Apple raised the bar VERY high with this one! I am extremely pleased with this purchase!!

Well it works, but be warned!
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5For starters, I'm not a power user and probably won't use M1 to its full potential. I use the mini for college work, writing papers, online course work (including video chat), spreadsheets... If you are an average user, the mini will do what it's supposed to, if you are already an Apple user you probably won't be surprised by the mini. It just works. There is nothing special or life changing about it. Be warned, since this is the Apple M1 chip, not app applications are compatible. MS Office is and that will probably cover most people. Parallels is not compatible at the time I write this. I already own Parallels on my MacBook Pro but wanted to move it to the Mini, and I can't until Parallels updates the software to work on the M1. The only issue I had with the Mini is that it wouldn't recognize my bluetooth keyboard on the very first start up. To solve this, I simply had to shut the Mini down, wait 15 seconds, and then turn it back on. that solved the issue and the Mini was able to recognize the keyboard. Keyboard was a Logitech K780. My mouse, Logetich M535 worked with no problem. Also, be warned that you cannot use dual displays through both of the USB-C ports, only 1 can send video (confirmed by calling Apple). My setup uses two displays, one connected via USB-C and the other through the HDMI port. The displays work perfectly. I just wish I knew this before I bought the Mini because I had to hunt for a spare HDMI cable. I have been using the Mini for two weeks now and haven't had a single issue with it since the initial bluetooth issue. Would I get this again: yes even though its on the expensive side. you do get what you pay for though...

Amazing upgrade for a regular consumer
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Due to COVID I been working from home to a recently purchased a new monitor, then I seen that Apple released this Mac mini that is affordable with their new M1 chip so I decided to add this to my desk setup, and let me say this computer is amazing and blazing fast!!! I’m coming from a 2015 MacBook Air so this is quite the upgrade for me. I only needed the 8gb base model since I’m not a content creator or power user I mainly web browse, watch media, and light video editing. If you’re a regular consumer in the market for a new desktop computer I would go ahead and get this.

Great value and performance
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I finally replaced my 10-year-old iMac with this and am super happy I did. I use my Mac for everyday use... not much heavy video or photo editing, but some. This has so much more power and everything loads almost instantaneously due to the SSD. I picked up a 1 TB SSD to add to storage. For most people I think the 8GB model is enough. If you're doing serious video editing or something, you might want to go higher, but the M1 unified architecture is really changing the way we think about desktop computers.

Q: QuestionI am trying to get the new Mac Mini M1 with 16Gb of RAM, but it does not let me choose the 16GB option. Does that mean it is out of stock?

Q: QuestionIs the ram upgradable in these units
Asked by Meegge.
- A:Answer Be careful at Best Buy. They seem to only sell the 8G model at this time. If you increase the RAM in the selection, it will automatically change the processor version. Other answers are correct about it not being user upgradeable. Can't get anything better than 8G at Best Buy right now.

Q: QuestionWhat else do I need to buy to set up a new system to replace my old, tired 2011 iMac desktop? I have new Magic Mouse and bluetooth keyboard and 2011 Time Machine.
Asked by Kris.
- A:Answer If you can use your old iMac in target mode, you need a cable for that. Otherwise you need an HDMI cable or perhaps Thunderbolt 3 cable for video output, assuming you’re using it as a desktop and not hiding it headless in a closet, and whatever sort of monitor/TV that works with that cable. You’ve already got a mouse and keyboard, so that’s all you need to worry about. The MacMini is aimed at people that already have existing peripherals like you have.
