I decided to get this so that I could remove that big ugly mast antenna from my truck. I have a radio capable of AM, FM, and the digital FM many stations are now broadcasting in. The first thing I did was hook it up to test it out, and without the power connected I got good reception from my FM station. After a few seconds of the radio being turned on it jumped from their analog to their digital broadcast and remained connected. AM, on the other hand, had very poor quality. I then connected the power and tried again and this time FM was filled with static and did not jump to HD, but the AM signal improved. I then disconnected and reconnected to power while the radio was on and the behavior continued. I am confident the device was receiving power because it's little led would light up when connected.
It's going back to the store. How can it be worse when powered? That makes no sense whatsoever! Due to the nature of modern tech it's hard to say if this is just a bad design or yet another defective tech product that found is way to sale since tech is notoriously shoddy in quality anymore. I'm returning it as soon as I complete this review.
