      Wrong harness for my vehicle

Researched the harness needed for my 2013 Ford F150 Truck. According to the compatibility information listed with this product, I purchased it according to this information. At the time of the installation of my audio player, purchased for my vehicle, I was informed by the Best Buy Installer, that the harness I supplied was incorrect.. He looked up the information on the store computer, and showed me the description of the harness needed to start the installation. He asked me, if I would be willing to go to a local mobile audio dealer/installer, that he suggested. He also indicated, the dealer, most assuringly would have the proper harness in stock. I agreed and went to that business. Was able to purchase the correct harness for my vehicle, at quite an expense, Do to this issue, the installation time set, was extended buy two hours. But once I had the correct part, he was able to complete the installation to my satisfaction, even though it took most of the day. I am not complaining about the installation, but unhappy with the improper info received on the Best Buy website, but other websites as well. To sum it up, I purchased a harness from Best Buy, that was not used. Also purchased two harnesses from the local mobile audio dealer, not knowing which one would work, lucky one did. I left the the two items, that were not used, with the Best Buy installer, as I had no use of them. What ever inconvenience and cost, I am happy with the outcome.

I had to do a lot of reading and youtube vids to make sure I was doing this correctly. The install manual and harness packaging color guide aren't enough if you're a novice installer like me--like this was my first attempt ever. However, with extra research, I got it in and it works beautifully--2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer and a Pioneer AVH-1300NEX. The install was actually fairly quick. Most of my time was in the research beforehand. I also made all my connections in the house with good light and plenty of room to work. My one mistake was not hooking up the 'blue wires' to control the amp. I had trouble finding out if my Expedition had an amp or not. It does. Use the blue wires. I was going to do 4 stars because the wiring info was weak but that really was due more to my inexperience rather than the info provided.

The product itself may or may not be fine, I have no idea because it doesn't fit my vehicle. I purchased a car stereo and the site recommended the additional items needed for installation. I specifically input my vehicle make and model and wrongly assumed the recommendation would match my vehicle. While the antenna was the correct one for my Jeep, The wiring harness and mounting brackets that arrived with my new car stereo were for a Ford. Shame on my for not looking more closely. So my real issue is with the site, not the product.

My car: 2006 ford freestyle Limited. I bought this under the assumption that it would fit my car, Best Buy confirmed it would wor for my stereo conversion... needless to say it doesn’t have the adapter fir the stock dvd player. And the main harness wires aren’t correct. The steering wheel controls are not working, stock amp works intermittently, and the dimmer wire connects to a spot where no wire connects...

Bought a new stereo system for sons car and salesman ordered this for us. There are two different harnesses. Husband worked on it forever and he finally realized salesperson ordered the different one that we needed. He thinks its a harness for a amplifier. I'm sure it would work just fine but system would not shut off when the ignition was turned off. Wires did not match up. Just an extra step but make sure you choose the right one

So, My wife's suburban was totaled and the radio was only about three months old. I wanted to install the radio in my truck sence it was better than mine but, I couldn't figure out the wires so, I drove up the Best Buy and they said I needed this wiring harness that they Had in stack. Bought the harness and one hour after starting I was good to go.

Not absolutely necessary, but why not use it?

So you don't absolutely HAVE to use these wiring harnesses, but I just can't think of a good reason not to. They really speed up installation time versus trying to wire everything in in the dash. Just make sure to get the correct harness (most likely you'll need to get a store associate to get it out of the back for you - it's probably not on the shelves in the showroom).

I wasn’t sure if I was going to purchase from Best Buy. I wanted to get a reasonable price for it. I knew about it and gow much it should be. But Best Buy price was great! And if they have one that open it’s even cheaper. And if u don’t need it the sales person was honest in telling u. Good job Best Buy
