  • Key Specs
    • Image Sensor Size: APS-C (23.6 x 15.7 mm)
    • Effective Pixels: 20.9 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
    • Standardized Video Resolution: 4K (2160p) (An approximated measurement of the product’s video resolution. This may not be the exact resolution of the product, which may be slightly more or less when using a pixel-by-pixel measurement.)
  • General
    • Brand: Nikon
    • Model Number: 1788
    • Product Name: Z50II Mirrorless Camera Two Lens Kit with NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR and NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Lenses
    • Color: Black
    • Camera Model Family: Nikon Z 50
    • Digital Camera Type: Mirrorless Camera with Lens
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Sensor Size: APS-C (23.6 x 15.7 mm)
    • Total Pixels: 21.51 megapixels (Generally, the more pixels, the higher the image resolution and the finer the detail that can be seen.)
    • Digital Zoom: None (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • Image File Format(s): JPEG, RAW, HEIF (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
    • Eye Autofocus (Eye AF): true (Automatically seeks out and focuses on the subject's eye and holds it as the camera and subject move and as the photographer shoots at high frame rates.)
    • Number of Autofocus Points (Up To): 231
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/4000 to 30 s (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Minimum Aperture: f/16 (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: f/4 (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Minimum ISO: 100 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. When there is plenty of light, using the lowest ISO setting available will typically result in a higher quality image.)
    • Maximum ISO: 51200 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. In low-light environments, using a higher ISO setting helps to capture a sharp, bright image.)
    • Maximum Expandable ISO: 204800 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. Expandable ISO settings use software to simulate brighter images than the device's native ISO range is capable of capturing.)
    • Brightness Control: true (Allows the camera to adjust the brightness of a captured image for optimal exposure.)
    • Self Timer: true
    • Self-Timer Delay: 2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 20 seconds
    • Shooting Modes: Auto, Programmed auto with flexible program (P), Shutter-priority auto (S), Aperture-priority auto (A), Manual (M) (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)
    • Scene Modes: portrait; landscape; child; sports; close up; night portrait; night landscape; party/indoor; beach/snow; sunset; dusk/dawn; pet portrait; candlelight; blossom; autumn colors; food (Exposure modes with predetermined optimal settings for capturing specific scenes. Examples include Landcape, Portrait, and Sports modes.)
    • White Balance Modes: Auto (3 types), Choose color temperature (2,500 K–10,000 K), Cloud, Direct sunlight, Flash, Fluorescent (3 types), Incandescent, Natural light, AutoPreset manual (up to 6 values can be stored), all with fine-tuning, Shade (Settings that calibrates how the color white is rendered in an image/video, reducing the appearance of unnatural contrasts caused by various light sources.)
    • Effective Pixels: 20.9 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • Lens Mount Compatibility: Nikon Z
    • Lens Type: Standard Zoom, Telephoto Zoom
    • Minimum Focal Length: 16 millimeters (The minimum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The shorter the focal length, the greater the area of scene captured.)
    • Maximum Focal Length: 50 millimeters (The maximum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The greater the focal length, the smaller the area of scene captured.)

    • Screen Size: 3.2 inches (Size of the screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner.)
    • Viewfinder Type: Electronic (A viewfinder is the part of a camera (or attachment) that allows you to see and focus a scene in frame. Optical viewfinders let you view the scene directly through the lens. Electronic viewfinders display the image on a screen in its approximate final form.)

Q: What is the maximum video resolution that the camera can record?

A: The maximum video resolution for this camera is 4K (2160p).

Q: Are there any memory cards included in the kit?

A: This camera kit does not include a memory card.

Q: Does the camera have a built-in flash?

A: This camera does have a built-in flash.

Q: How many lenses are included in this kit?

A: This kit includes two lenses: the NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm and the NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm.

Q: What is the maximum ISO sensitivity of the camera?

A: The maximum ISO sensitivity of this camera is 51200.

Q: Can the camera be used with a tripod?

A: This camera can be mounted to a tripod.

Q: Does this kit come with a battery charger?

A: No...and yes. The battery is charged in the camera using a standard USB-C cable (provided). The included setup guides suggests any USB-C charger meeting PD standards, 27 Watts (9V/3A). The EN-EL25a requires the MH-32 battery charger. It is not yet listed on either the Best Buy or Nikon sites. It also mentions an EH-8P AC adapter which I cannot locate on either the Nikon or Best Buy sites. I have only used the onboard charger so far. Takes about an hour with a standard 30W wall wart to reach full charge. I have an Anker PD compatible charger ordered for a more permanent charging solution and also to provide an AC adapter eliminating the need for a battery. But I will also purchase one of the chargers mentioned by Nikon as an offboard solution so I don't have to leave the camera out and attached.

2024 Nikon - Z50II Mirrorless Camera Two Lens Kit

I've had multiple SLR cameras over the years. I am 71 years young and just bought the best Nikon I've ever had. And, I purchased the Z50II mirrorless camera with two lens kit. One of my worst problems with previous cameras was getting the focus right. This camera has a really intelligent focusing system. When I shoot pictures of my kids and grandkids, I can see multiple areas (usually the facial expressions or the eyes) that are being used for focusing on the subject(s). Another feature I really enjoy is that the built-in flash is rarely needed to fill in a flash so the subject is bright enough. The camera automatically senses the amount of light required and adjusts either (or both) the aperture or the shutter speed to allow the clearest, cleanest view of the subject. So far, I've only been using the automatic feature. I'm guessing I will start using the other extremely beneficial modes in the near future. It is true that good things can come in small packages. I thoroughly enjoy using this camera. And, I suspect you will too!

    Great first camera!

So far this camera has been a dream as my first camera. I am using it to shoot local sports as well as birds on occasion. I generally use the longer lens that came with the kit and they are decent first lenses as well. I am learning so much through YouTube about the different settings and can’t wait to try more as the weather warms up.

    Awesome Camera!

This camera is just amazing! I upgraded from a Canon Rebel T7 to this camera Nikon Z50ii. I’m so happy with my upgraded & switching over to Nikon. I can’t wait to start photography professionally with this awesome camera.
