Excellent Remote - If You Put In The Work!
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I was he distant to purchase this because the reviews are pretty hit or miss but since it was on sale I decided eh, why not? I received it in the mail today and after spending maybe 30min watching a helpful YouTube video (https://youtu.be/N-1A3_0YOEI ) and reading the manual cover to cover, it took maybe 10 pain-less minutes to set up! But I say this as someone who loves problem solving and technology. It’s not always super intuitive but If you watch the video and read the instructions you’ll be okay! My set up was on a Samsung NU507100 Smart TV and a Vizio 2.1 SB3621n sound bar. I wanted a remote that would let me use my TV’s functions but that controlled the volume on the sound bar. This One For All remote (OFA) has a quick set up option that works for more popular TV/sound bar/streaming device brands. I used that for my TV and it made maybe 50% of the buttons function and for the sound bar, it worked for the volume but not for power button. I was able to get a lot more out of using the C-learning function which basically has you line up the IR sensor on the OFA remote with the one on the remote you want it to ‘learn’ from. Using this function was actually nicer because I had full control of which buttons I wanted ‘copied’ over from my TV’s remote. And EVERY button on the OFA remote is programmable. I was able to use the TV power button for my Samsung and then the red power button for my sound bar. For the dedicated streaming buttons, I assumed they only worked for streaming devices (Apple TV, Roku, etc.) and since my TV had built in apps, I didn’t think I could use it but the manual does provide instructions for programming macros for those buttons. Basically once you’ve finished programming all your TV buttons, you put the remote in ‘learning’ mode for the dedicated buttons and press whatever button sequence on your remote would get you to the app you want to use (for Netflix on my TV it was Home > Scroll Twice > Press Enter). So whenever I press the Netflix button, the remote makes the TV do the sequence without me having to press the buttons. It’s not SUPER direct of course but it only requires one button press! As a testament to it’s ease of use, after I finished programming it, I asked my partner (who is not very into tech and is easily frustrated by it lol) to test it out and they were able to use it right away! Anyway, that’s pretty much everything and I would HIGHLY recommend for anyone who relies on streaming/doesn’t have cable, is down to figure it out, and doesn’t want to spend a lot for a universal remote!

Convenient
||Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Easy to set up and functions properly, the learn function is the best easy to control my surround sound and roku tv all at the same time. The buttons on the remote also light up so no having to squint or shine any lights to see in the dark. The buttons clearly eliminate so you can choose the right button,

Works great
||Posted .Controller is really nice, has the soft touch plastic and I love that you can make the LED any color you want. Set up was super easy and it controls my LG OLED and Apple TV 4K perfectly. I should have purchased this a long time ago.

Pros and Cons
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I bought two (2) for my devices in two different rooms in the house. I ended up keeping one and returning the other. This review is for the remote control that I am keeping. I hope the following pros and cons will somewhat help you make a decision if you should buy or not. Pros: (1) Good physical form factor and good button layout. The remote control feels good in its size when I hold it in my hand. The buttons are well positioned in my taste. (2) The printed manual for initial setup has good instructions overall (but can also improve as you will see below in the cons). (3) I like the backlit feature. Sometimes I watch TV in darkness and the backlit makes a big difference. (4) I had to call customer service twice for troubleshooting setup problems. Both representatives were polite and knowledgeable, and available to take my calls in no time. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to wait when I called for support. (5) The manufacturer of my TV is Hannspree, a very obsolete brand over a decade old. Most remote controls don't support this brand, but this remote control has a code available. Nice! (6) Linking the remote control to Roku Premiere streaming device is a breeze. (7) Linking the remote control to Onkyo Stereo Receiver is barely OK experience and not great, even though the setup claims it should be easy, but it is not. I got to work eventually after having to take an unnecessary step. See my Cons below. This experience can improve. (8) I paid $15 when it was on sale at Best Buy, so the price was good. (9) This remote control has successfully helped me get rid of 3 old, individual remote controls. The one-for-all claim is valid! Cons: (1) The package does NOT come with batteries. You need to provide your own four (4) AAA batteries. A litte bit cheap practice by the manufacturer. (2) The battery cover in the back of the remote control is very hard to slide out to open it. You have to find the perfect spot somewhere in order to slide out the battery cover. Otherwise, it just won't slide out no matter how gentle or strong you try to push it out, if you don't find that perfect spot. This is not documented in the manual. (3) The connection to Onkyo Stereo Receiver is buggy! Onkyo is supposed to be available via the EZ setup. It did NOT work at all. It is also suppoed to be available via entering a specific code in the remote control. I entered the Code for Onkyo, and it worked EXCEPT for the power button. the Code would turn on the stereo receiver and would NOT TURN OFF the stereo receiver. I assure you that I am not lying here. It was beyond weird experience. I cannot understand how the code can possible just turn on a receiver and cannot turn it off. The Code is buggy. I got frustrated for several minutes and then lightning struck. What if I just use the "learning function" to learn the power button from my old Onkyo remote control to the new one? Huzzah! The learning function did solve the problem, after which I can turn OFF the Onkyo receiver just fine. But why do we have to go through the learning function when the manual clearly says Onkyo is supported via EZ Setup and via entering the Code, both of which do not work. I felt I was lucky and creative enough to use the learning function to solve this problem. (4) The Apps shortcut buttons (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube) CANNOT be reprogrammed, to the contrary of the manufacturer's claim. This is further confirmed by the two different customer service representatives when I called and spoke to them in two separate calls. Very disappointing! I don't use Netflix and Hulu, and was hoping I could reprogram the buttons to other Apps. I tried many times and called them twice to troubleshoot. The problem is never solved. While this is disappointing, it is not a deal breaker for me. They should stop advertising that the Apps buttons can be reprogrammed. It does not work. The Hulu button is the worst as it won't even start reprogramming no matter what you do to it. (5) This is very minor, but I wish there were more color choices, not just black. Other colors would make the remote control much easier to find or locate on your coffee table, sofa, or wherever. (6) I returned the second remote control for another room because it totally does NOT work with Roku built-in with TCL TV. It does NOT work even with the missing code in the Best Buy version. It does NOT work in a way that it will NOT save that code once you leave the remote control idle for a few hours. For example, you are done watching at night and then go to sleep. Next morning, the remote control will not turn on the TV and will not turn on the Roku bulit-in Streamer. You will have to go through the setup process each time. I ended up returning the remote control for my second room. Weird problem! Overall, the one I am keeping is good enough. I am happy it has replaced 3 old, individual remote controls.

Posted .Hello WC2020
Thank you for the feedback it will help us improve our remote going forward, a few things to add as well 6. the remote should work with A tcl roku tv using the codes from the Walmart version. 4. Apps can be reprogrammed as real time macros however you can not change the direct shortcut without learning from a remote that has the shortcut. 3. There is no receiver power button on the remote so it should not control a receivers power.without doing what you did and learning the button.

Fantastic remote
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This may be the best universal remote I've owned. I can use it to power on my Samsung TV, adjust the volume of my Insignia Soundbar, control playback on my Roku box, and turn everything off when I’m done watching. Programing it is done with either a code, that will assign the whole remote for a device, or you can customize each button by using a feature that allows you to point your original device at the OFA, press a button, then press whichever button you want to assign to the OFA. Unfortunately, it lacks a microphone, so you’re not able to use voice search. The only time I miss this functionality is when searching for titles in app, or I have to log in to my streaming apps that don’t support "log in from the web". With the OFA remote, I have to individually select letters one by one rather than just dictating them with my voice. The remote has four buttons at its bottom that you can program to easily access your favorite apps. I use mine to quickly open Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Paramount+, and Netflix. The remote works with Roku's streaming boxes and the Xbox One, but it’s worth mentioning that it is not compatible with Amazon Fire TV or Roku streaming sticks. I mostly use this in bedroom at night, and the backlight subtle enough not to bother me, but bright enough to clearly see everything. You can also change the color of the ring around the "OK" button to many different colors.

Not fully compatible with my Sharp/Roku TV
||Posted .I have nothing against this remote but, I also do not know how well it works. This is why I gave it 3 stars. After returning the 1st one and finding it's replacement also had same issue, I am certain it isn't compatible with my Sharp/Roku LC-55LBU711U TV. No matter which method I used to program it, the up button would never work. The learn feature gives LED feedback when the "teaching" remote button pressed. So, was sure the up button learned the command. Using my phone camera, could see the IR LEDs flashing a command......just not the correct one.

A fine replacement remote
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. It did exactly what we needed -- a replacement for a missing remote for an LG/Roku TV. I wish that the shortcut buttons at the bottom were customizable, but otherwise, it's good.

Great Control for the Money
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This is my second controller and for the money it gets the job done. If you can’t locate a code to program, it also has a learn function that works by facing the original remote (assuming it functions) and press the same button on each and it learns the signal, pretty cool stuff. My only complaint is the round center control is difficult to press compared to factory units. If you have a strong pointer finger you won’t go wrong.

Q: QuestionWill this remote work as a replacement for the Apple TV gen 4 remote?
Asked by Sil.
- A:Answer It should work just fine. I have it for my Apple TV 4K and it works great! I prefer this remote much more than the stock apple remote. You can even program the buttons on the bottom of the remote to open specific apps. Now the technical part: This remote works by IR not Bluetooth like the Siri remote. The emitter works very well so you dont really have to point the remote at the Apple TV but it does need some line of sight to work. To me, its a fair trade off to not have to worry about the bad trackpad on the Siri remote. I can only handle some many wrong clicks from a remote. Also, being as this is not a Siri remote, you lose the Siri feature but its really not that bad.

Q: QuestionDoes this remote work with any roku tv ?
Asked by Cass.
- A:Answer Yes this remote should work with roku tv's however the manual in the best buy version of the remote does not contain the codes. Here they are to set up a Hisense, RCA, Sharp or Sanyo Roku TV: 1. Hold down STB POWER and HOME until the red LED blinks twice 2. Press the HOME key 5 times 3. The LED will blink green twice and the remote should now work your Roku TV. To set up an Insignia Roku TV 1. Hold down STB POWER and HOME until the red LED blinks twice 2. Press the REPLAY key 5 times 3. The LED will blink green twice and the remote should now work your Roku TV. If you want to reset the remote to control a TCL Element, Philips, Magnavox, JVC, LG or Haier Roku TV 1. Hold down STB POWER and HOME until the red LED blinks twice 2. Press the BACK key 5 times 3. The LED will blink green twice and the remote should now work your Roku TV BB One For All Support

Q: QuestionDo this work with firestick
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No, because Firestick has no IR. But you can buy an IR receiver for Firestick like the Inteset IreTV and this remote will work with that.

Q: QuestionI need to know if I will be able to change the device input on my surround sound with this, but also change input on the TV? Also, will I be able to access TV menu options?
Asked by Trentipher.
- A:Answer You can change the input with this remote, but I have not been able to access the tv menus with mine. It only works with volume and power for the tv. I’m using a Samsung smart tv and it specifically says it is optimized for Samsung TVs.

Q: QuestionI see this states that it is compatible with the shield, but I cannot get the shield to recognize the remote. What am I missing?
Asked by Nvidiashielduser.
- A:Answer Old Shields have IR built in. Newer models have no IR, hence won't work with an IR remote like this one. However, you can buy and plug an FLIRC IR dongle and the Shield will work with this remote.

Q: QuestionCan the App buttons be programmed to other apps, such as with the YouTube button launching YouTube TV instead of YouTube? Thank you.
Asked by Jwrbloom.
- A:Answer Yes, However it will not be a direct short cut you would be programing what is called a real time macro. Basically when you press the button it will perform the actions necessary to get to the app. BB One For All Support
