Synopsis

Porky's
Love it or loathe it (and there are a goodly number of people on either side), Porky's was one of the most successful comedies of its day, spawning two direct sequels and inspiring an incalculable number of lowbrow teen comedies, most recently including American Pie (1999). Pee Wee (Dan Monahan), Billy (Mark Herrier), Tommy (Wyatt Knight), and Mickey (Roger Wilson) are four painfully horny high school kids growing up in South Florida in the 1950's. Desperate to rid themselves of their cumbersome virginity, they head out to a sleazy bar near the swamps called Porky's, where local legend has it that the owner will fix you up with a prostitute for a reasonable fee. After Porky takes their money and dumps them in the swamp, the guys vow to get revenge. Meanwhile, Pee Wee has to deal with his shrinking penis, someone drills a hole in the wall of the girl's shower, the guys encounter a prostitute named Cherry Forever, and anti-Semitism rears its ugly head. Cheerfully rude in a manner few mainstream films had achieved at that time, Porky's, for better or worse, changed the standard of what was acceptable in a screen comedy. Remarkably enough, two years later director Bob Clark made the holiday favorite A Christmas Story, which displayed his considerable range, if nothing else. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I actually think this is about a 4.5 star movie but alas, I gave it 5 because I just can't quite go 4. Low budget flick. Hardly anyone you have ever seen both before and after this movie (except Kim Cantrell who was a nobody when this was made). Teens, partying (and all that implies), teachers, cops, bar thugs & conflict, pretty typical except better. This flick has 2 of the most killer funny scenes ever. If you haven't seen it, sit down & watch this cheap, guilty pleasure & be surprised.

    Disappointed

I always thought of this movie as a classic since I'd heard about it many times over the years so we decided to watch it and we didn't like it. It was definitely stupid humor but the story just wasn't good either so it was hard to stay engaged. It's time spent that I wish I could have back.

Back before American Pie there was Porky's. One of the great comedy classics of the 80's, and if you have not seen it what are you waiting for? Definitely not for the young ones mind you though. Young viewers should definitely be of high school age. Was thrilled when I saw this is available now on Blu and got it for only $5 with the upgrade and save program going on right now.

Porky's was one of the low-brow comedy classics in the same vein as Animal House. It's showing its age a bit, but still has many solid laughs. Overall, its a silly story about a bunch of high school kids and their antics and ultimately their revenge on Porky, the owner of a local bar who abused them. This ain't Shakespeare, but it is pretty fun.

What dreams are made of, if you're an adolescent boy, that is. This is a no-brainer, didn't even know it had been released on blu-ray and didn't hesitate to pick it up the day I saw it on Best Buy's shelves! Even if you didn't grow up in the 80's, it's timeless, raunchy fun! Snag a copy before all us "old-timers" clean out their inventory!

One of my favorite comedies from the eighties. A really funny movie. My favorite scene is when Ms,. Ballbreaker is discussing the peephole incident in the girls locker room with the principal and the other teachers are laughing in the background. I rewind can watch and that scene over and over.

Porky’s was one of my first CED discs. They were out when VHS Players were very expensive. My brother and I loved Porky’s then, but it looks awesome on Blu Ray! This is a must have if you like the genre.

Similar to 'Revenge of the Nerds'

In many ways, 'Porky's' is similar to the classic comedy 'Revenge of the Nerds.' While not quite as well known, and maybe not as funny as 'Nerds,' the movie still makes for some very laughable moments. Widescreen, but fans may want to purchase the more recent special edition that has more bonus features.
