    Synopsis

Reluctant time-traveler Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) certainly gets a workout "leaping" from one person's body to another during the inaugural season of Quantum Leap -- and so, by extension, does Sam's holographic observer-advisor, Al (Dean Stockwell). The first episode, "Genesis: September 13, 1956," was originally telecast as a two-hour movie, and has since been seen in a 90-minute version, and divided into two separate episodes for syndication. In this installment, Sam leaps into the body of a test pilot with a pregnant wife and then becomes a minor-league ballplayer (though not, it should be noted, in the 90-minute abridgement). Subsequent episodes find Sam coming face to face with the girl he almost married back in 1972, and also inhabiting the bodies of a boxer, a veterinarian, a teenaged hot-rodder, a black man in 1950s Alabama, and a Bogart-like private eye who, D.O.A. fashion, is investigating his own murder. And in one of his trickier "assignments," Sam becomes a mob hitman...who has been hired to kill Dr. Sam Beckett! ~ Hal Erickson

I don't have any problems to report on the Blu Rays at this time. It looks like a very nice set. I had another issue that has kept me from viewing them yet. I pre-ordered this and received it one day after the street release date. Before I opened the set, I noticed that it was packaged wrong from the factory. I ended up with no Season 1 and double Season 2's. I called customer service and was told that I could not get a replacement because they were all sold out. They would have to refund my purchase and I could place a new order and wait until the end of March to get it. I contacted Mill Creek Entertainment, the manufacturer, and they told me they would fix it by sending me the correct pieces. I haven't received it yet, but that was just a couple days ago. Hopefully, everything works out!

This is one of my all time favorite sci-fi time travel shows! I was thrilled that it has finally arrived on Blu-ray! I remember originally paying over $30 for the pilot on DVD back in the day and now I have the whole series on Blu-ray for under $60. What a deal! All that's missing are digital copies. None the less the series holds up really well, Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell are fantastic and the soundtrack has been corrected on a lot of key scenes including "Georgia On My Mind" in the episode "M.I.A." Highly Recommended!

Quantum Leap has always been one of my favourite shows...especially when I was a kid. Again, seeing as this is a Mill Creek set, there are no real special features on the set. AND the discs are stacked in the cases. Blu-rays are hard to scratch, but it's more the inconvienence of moving one disc to get another that's annoying. I've only watch a couple of episodes, but they look a lot better than the show has ever looked. If they've changed any of the music, I can't tell.

NBC Universal began releasing QL seasons on DVD starting in 2004, much of the original music was replaced by generic elevator music. In 2017, Mill Creek Entertainment remastered the Quantum Leap: The Complete Series blu-ray collection. The majority of the original music has been restored. The audio is in DTS-HD 2.0. There are 18 discs total spanning all 5 seasons of 97 episodes with 2 discs for season 1 and 4 discs for each of the remaining seasons.

Quantum leap has had a checkered release history - with the original music being removed from the DVD releases etc, but finally it seems like Mill Creek have got it right. For any deserving Quantum leap fan , as far as I can tell all the original music has been restored , the picture quality is excellent as you'd expect. Only critique is the disk packaging which seems to spread seasons across cases , but thats just cosmetic and its easily fixed by re-arranging the disks.

For years, earlier DVD versions of this set were available without the original music. Now this Blu-Ray version sets right what once was wrong. From what I can tell and what I've read (as I've not gone through the whole series yet), the original music cues have been restored, giving us the big moments as we remember them. Also, there are no bonus features as the DVD set had, but what matters most is a truly complete collection of one of the best sci-fi series of all time.

It's nice to finally have this on blu-ray however there a few things that would've made it better in my opinion. There doesn't seem to be much if anything in the way of bonus features & unfortunately they didn't do a new HD transfer. The picture is fine but once in a while it'll look a little bit grainy or have some lines in it like when it was originally aired. All in all though if you really enjoyed the show as I do then this a good purchase & I think you'll enjoy it

I've watched a few episodes on the first disc so far - sound is great, video quality is ok... not like other blu-ray qualities, but it's an old show. I can tell (with my untrained eye) that it's definitely not as grainy as it could be. Also I read some reviews that said the discs were stacked on top of each other... this is not the case. While there are 2 discs per case, each disc has it's own seat. I'm happy with this purchase and glad I could use my $5 coupon towards it :)
