I believe you should never leave cardboard or paper inside the microwave. I have nothing inside except for the turntable and the rod it is mounted on. It was probably used to pack the turntable and the User Manuals inside the microwave. Definitely remove it

I was about to take it out too but I couldn't easily get it out so I figured it was supposed to be there. But I just happened to read the instructions and it says its for some magnetism thingamajig or something...I don't know I can't find it right now and I'm not reading thru all that again. Take my word for it or read the instructions yourself.
