The difference is a physical purchase is a game cartridge shipped or picked up @ store. The digital is a download code sent to your email after purchase. I personally prefer physical b/c too many times we have downloaded games to my kids video game systems & when they fail, the games are lost, unless you pay the specific members fees each system has which includes a stored library of downloaded games.
