Upgrading your ram will not void your warranty, however any damage done to the system in the process or deemed caused by the upgrade of the ram would not be covered under the warranty. Since the laptops require a lot of disassembly to access the RAM, there is a chance you could damage something internally and it would not be covered under the warranty. This is why it is highly recommended than an HP Authorized Service Technician do the upgrade, but it will not void your warranty.
