Yes, if you use an optical cable from your tv to the sound bar the sound bar will play anything from your tv. I do believe it works with the HDMI/ARC also. I haven't tried using anything other than the ROKU input on the tv but the ARC should send the sound you need from anything you are planing.

Yes, of course the Roku Soundbar will improve the sound quality of your TV. Roku offers over 10,000 channels plus premium content like HBO, Netflix, Amazon. Finally Roku supports Hulu, YouTubeTV etc... that offers local channels as well.
