“Does the wifi built in to the TV allow other devices to connect to it? Or is specific to the TV itself?”

• The TV uses the modem in the house for internet connection. The TV talks to the Netflix application, Netflix goes to the UVerse modem and after connection it streams on the TV. I think the TV itself is kinda passive other than generating the picture. Running other devices through the TV would be an extra step when those devices can connect through the modem that's already in the house.
