NOPE, you don't need ANY Cable TV to get TV stations - - 1) You can connect a Powered Indoor Antenna via Coax Cable to receive "Over the Air" Digital Broadcasts thats available in your area, mine picked up 61 TV stations ;) 2) Since the TV is Dual Band WiFi, you can use any APP to stream anything that APP has to offer, If you have an Amazon Acct, for example you can elect to get Amazon Prime Free for 30 Days (that includes: Prime Video) and then use that app on the TV to View what's available on Amazon Prime Video ;) 3) There are so many APP's that you can "install" that you really don't need cable at all - I have started to view the APP: "Pluto TV" and that alone is nice to start out with ;)
