“Comcast now has a tv app that works with Roku. Has anyone tried it with this tv? Does that mean I can get rid of the Comcast box? What are the downfalls to doing this?”

You will still use your box for cable input. However, you can switch to Roku input, or Netflix input etc. It just shows you what you ask to see. Choose your source and watch it. I guess if you didn't want to watch cable, you could ditch the box..
