“Do you have to connect the speackers to the blu ray or can you connect the speacker just to the tv?”

• You connect the speakers to the blue ray, there are separate color coded cables for each speaker. You then have to buy two more cables, an optical cable that goes from the blue ray to the tv for the picture to work when you watch a movie and an HDMI cable that will connect from the blue ray to the HDMI (ARC) on the back of the tv so the sound will work through the speakers when you watch a movie. Depending on the tv you have you may need a component (RCA) cable to connect the blue ray to the tv instead of the optical cable and HDMI cable.
