“Hearing surround sound through gaming system This receiver has one HDMI port that will connect to my TV. I am also going to connect a PlayStation 4 to my TV as well. If I muted my tv, turn on the receiver and turn my Playstation on, will I be able to listen to the sound through this surround sound or will it only play through the tv speakers?”

Yes it will play through the surround sound speakers only, my husband does it all the time

If it's older like mine and is not, you can connect with an optical cable to push sound from an external device thru the TV to the surround system.
