I found that you have to wiggle it a little while doing the speaker test. make sure your not clamping the plastic casing on the wire.

I had the same problem, you probably have to try and jiggle the wires a little towards the plug in. Once you get it , it should sound great. Hope this was helpful.

Try checking to make sure your receiver is receiving a 5.1 audio signal, and that the receiver is set to play a 5.1 audio signal. Without surround sound, the center channel will offer no audio.
