No, the subwoofer is wired to the main amplifier/dvd player as is the front left, right and center speakers. The rear surround speakers are wired to a seperate box that plugs into a 110 volt outlet and receives a wireless signal transmitted from the main unit; which was the feature that inspired me to purchase this model. You do not have to run wires all the way across your living room or man cave to the rear surround speakers, just plug the auxillary box into an outlet in the back of the room and run the speaker wires to this seperate power box which receives a bluetooth signal from the main unit. Note: for some reason the rear surround speakers will not work when playing shows through this Home Theatre system itself unless you are watching a DVD recorded in dolby surround sound, but we use apps such as Netflix or CBS on our TV or Roku instead of on the Home Theatre system and the sound comes through all speakers, not sure the reason behind that, our T.V. is brand new 55 in, Samsung also.
