“I bought $280 5 year warranty for my TV. The back light went out after 15 months and they are going to replace it with a different TV of equal value. Does my warranty transfer or do I have to pay for a new warranty because of being a new TV.”

You have to pay for a new warranty, unfortunately with most places the warranty does not carry over to the new device. I had to replace my new tv because my kids threw something at the screen, I had to buy a new replacement plan to cover the new tv.
