I think the product would work well for a 6th grader. Be aware, depending on the game, 16GB will get used pretty quickly.

That's a tricky question. Music and movies yes. PowerPoint is iffy, you can download the PowerPoint app which may or may not work. Or use Google slides, which is free. Gaming depends on which game. Currently there's problems with some of the popular game apps. The sims, for example crashes when you start the app, boom beach, etc. The Android apps are hit or miss right now. Probably within a month or two they'll all be functioning. I say go for it. I love mine.
