“I bought 2 monitors to use but it doesn’t look like my computer’s HDMI ports are the same shape. Are there any attachments that can be used or do I need to return them? Also, can the base be removed from the monitor after it’s been attached?”

If it's not the same shape, it's probably not an HDMI port. There's probably display port on your computer, there is also one on the monitor. You remove it from the base by hitting the button under where the screen mounts.
