Simple answer, "no". I don't see how you can have cable internet without a modem that has Ethernet ports and/or WiFi to connect your device (computer, TV, smart phone, etc) to the the internet. Your service provider (Cox, Verison, etc) should supply a rental modem/router, or you need to buy a compatible modem and activate (pay) to use your modem and internet. This MoCA converter works with a MoCA-enabled [paid] service/device (e.g., Verison FiOS), to change an EXISTING Ethernet signal and transmit it through the coax cable. I would ask my service provider for clarification and help.
