Would it still work if the switch has a case? null

I highly doubt it. There's zero room between it and the Switch while docked.

Depends on the case, I have a very thin case with wide opening for charger port and it works for me!

I have a GripCase which is pretty thick, but luckily I can still get it to charge when I sit it down just right.
