I was using IX or XI std edition and like you it stopped working (I believe Adobe disabled it). I replaced it with 2020 and it is quite similar to the previous version I was using. I don't know what the differences are between the std edition and the pro edition, so I cannot expound on the features. But, if you want to make a one time purchase instead of renting the software and paying a 'subscription' fee in perpetuity, then I would opt for 2020 and there may be a 2020 Pro edition. I was not looking for Pro, so I do not know about if it is or isn't offered.
