• A:Answer Inside the box is a card that has a code. That code has to be entered on a website to get another code to install it. It’s ridiculous. A digital download would be much simpler. What’s even more ridiculous is that out of 4 of these I purchased, only 1 code was good. I was sent 4 more, and out of those 4, only 1 was good. When these are purchased online, something on each box is supposed to be scanned by Best Buy to activate, kind of like a gift card. Apparently Best Buy haphazardly scans these and you end up with codes that don’t work because it says the code hasn’t been activated. After going around and around with Best Buy for 2 days and getting absolutely nowhere, I contacted Adobe directly. They were able to help me activate all the licenses I had purchased. I do NOT recommend buying this product from Best Buy. I will never purchase software from Best Buy again. I would recommend buying this directly from Adobe. It will save you a lot of time and trouble.

• A:Answer The best thing to do is call Adobe directly. I bought 4 of these from Best Buy and only 1 was activated. After talking to someone who could barely speak English, I was sent out 4 more. Of those 4, again only 1 worked. After 20 min chatting online with Best Buy, I was told I had to call customer service. I had no interest in trying to explain this again to someone who can’t speak English. I’d had enough. Apparently each product has to be scanned on their end when a customer purchases in order for the item to activate. Obviously they do this haphazardly, then are absolutely no help when you try to get it resolved. I called Adobe directly and they were able to activate all my licenses and email me the serial numbers. I wish I had called Adobe from the beginning. I will never buy software from Best Buy again. Worst experience ever.

Q: QuestionFor years I have used Acrobat XI Pro and found it excellent for what I want to do. This program stopped working recently and I want to replace it. Will Acrobat Standard 2020 do that?

• A:Answer I was using IX or XI std edition and like you it stopped working (I believe Adobe disabled it). I replaced it with 2020 and it is quite similar to the previous version I was using. I don't know what the differences are between the std edition and the pro edition, so I cannot expound on the features. But, if you want to make a one time purchase instead of renting the software and paying a 'subscription' fee in perpetuity, then I would opt for 2020 and there may be a 2020 Pro edition. I was not looking for Pro, so I do not know about if it is or isn't offered.
